When the Southern Crescent Tea Party Patriots (SCTPP) formed a few months ago its organizers said they were interested in more than just holding Tea Party rallies on April 15 and one on July 4. Holding to that premise, SCTPP will be sponsoring a healthcare reform educational town hall meeting Aug. 17 at the indoor facilities at Coweta County Fairgrounds on Pine Road in Newnan.

“This will not be a protest event,” said SCTPP Coweta Coordinator Wendy Bloedt. “There will be no elected officials in attendance. This is strictly an educational town hall. You will leave this event armed with hard hitting questions to ask your representatives regarding healthcare.”

The keynote speaker at the event Ron Bachman, a Senior Fellow at the non-partisan Center for Health Transformation. Bachman will discuss viable free market solutions to correct the problems with healthcare.

Other speakers include Dr. James T. Sandwich, M.D., Mr. Gerry Purcell, Medical Insurance Expert and Peter Janssen, a Coweta County resident and former long-time citizen of The Netherlands and a patient of its health care system. Additional speakers as confirmed will be announced on the Southern Crescent website at or www.ptcteapartypatriots.org or www.sctpp.org

Admission is free however seating is limited to only 275. Seats can be reserved at ptcteaparty@gmail.com.

Other upcoming SCTPP events include an Aug. 22 training session at Peachtree City Library from 10 a.m. until noon. The free event will teach citizens how to be more effective in dealing with congressmen, government officials and the media.

And on Aug. 26 the organization will hold another healthcare reform educational town hall meeting at Peachtree City Hall from 7-8:30 p.m. Featured speakers include members of the medical profession and the medical insurance industry with a question and answer session afterwards. The sweeping health care reform bill being considered by Congress will affect everyone in the country. Resident are encouraged to come and learn how the changes will affect you and your family.
