Two years in the making, it contains an overview of the history of the county, along with many photographs, both old and new. Carolyn Cary, Official Historian for Fayette County, was chosen to write this part.

Many advertisements are also included and will be a treasure years down the road.

Local artist, Vicki Turner, was chosen to render a painting of the Old Courthouse, which was then used to create the dust jacket.

Both will be on hand at the Fayette County Public Library on Saturday, Aug. 22 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., and on Sunday, Aug. 23, at the Fayette County Historical Society from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The books will be available this weekend only at the price of $25 each. Thereafter the books will be at $35 each and will be available at the chamber of commerce.

When I arrived at the library yesterday to purchase a copy of "Historic Fayette", I was informed that the event had been canceled. When I e-mailed the Historical Society, they informed me that the book had been delayed by the publisher with a rescheduled date to be announced.

In case you were wondering.

Publisher probably had not been paid yet.
For self published books you must pay before shipment.
