Six Million Jobs

We have about 6 million new people looking for jobs right now. (this is above the normal 5-6% we always have, for a total of 14 million.) It may get significantly higher over the next year or so, can't know yet.

If such unemployment numbers stretch out
for another year or more it will become untennable for the federal government to continue bailing out the states with more unemployment payments for them.
An extension to payments authorized is needed right now.

Now $400 or so dollars per week doesn't sound like much for most workers but believe me if it disappears there will be sudden chaos!
People can't pay many bills with $400 but they can eat and help with the rent.

For those optimists among us I would point out that there simply isn't many jobs on the horizon that even pay as much as unemployment pays!

Most of the jobs have been lost in the construction business. There is such a back-log of already built homes that it certainly isn't promising for that to be of help anyways soon. Same with commercial building.

Wall Street and Auto Companies also have lost a lot of jobs. I see that losing even more.

We will rebuild our economy eventually with sales of IT and defense products and maybe food, but it will not happen in less than a few years at best.

Also, if oil prices again get to $100 a barrell, we are even further destroyed.

We can't even find the money now to put people to work building our infrastructure: power, bridges, roads, dams, and transportation. We have already borrowed it for banks, insurance, industry, and stimulus locally (jobs).
We also are destroying running cars!

I get the idea that the plan might be for the world countries to mingle what finances they have together and dole them out to prevent riots! China won't participate.

It is the only plan in existence it seems!

Bush depended upon credit to survive; Obama is depending upon the banks. They aren't loaning---don't know how correctly.

Uh...Bonkers...

I can agree in principle with much of what you are saying. But to imply that Obama ISN'T "depending on credit to survive" is horrifically misleading.

I never meant to insinuate that Obama wasn't borrowing money at least temporarily, but the credit is the US's the credit Bush banked upon was individuals and corporations!

By the way the 6 million unemployed I refer to is the number added to the standard 6% or so we always have.
Thes 6 million will have to be filled for the recession to be started back to progress.

Let's see.... If we can't even even pay the debts off that started 40 years ago then how in God's good name can we ever expect to pay the massive "temporary" Obama debts?

By the way Bonkers.... Those 6 million unemployed are going to have wait since our government is not giving us indebted corporations any glimmers of hope for a economic rebound. No hope unless you are one of his Harvard / Ivy league Wall Street Banker types or a corporation with a union voter base that Obama needs desperately if he needs to survive politically in the next election cycle. Examples being Gumament Motors and Chrysler.

Love it though as you continue your but, but, but Bush excuses. Yeah... Bush screwed us... and that somehow justifies Obama upping the ante and hosing us more.

This appears to be a but, but, but Obama, doesn't it? Only second hundred days!

The "temporarily" is the return from the banks eventually, they are now paying interest in cash! (also paying workers as much as 100 million for one guy as a bonus!)

I'm saying the Bush administration over eight years did nothing to stop "irrational exuberance!" That is WHY we are where we are----not because of Obama, and you must know that!
Obama may screw up also---we will see in a year or so. It doesn't matter that he is a democrat or a socialist.

No matter that many of the cancers in our economy have been festering long before Bush took place. And that accumulatively many of these cancers were never addressed by Bush or his predecessors. These "chickens have come home to roost" and instead of buckling down expense wise what happens??? Obama pisses away hundreds of billions of dollars bailing out failed companies while providing NO relief what-so-ever for the small to mid sized businesses that are the foundations to our economy.

I just cannot figure out how all those financial institutions, banks, and union driven corporations seem to have been awarded the vast majority of Obama's corporate welfare handouts. Hmmmmm... could it be because of his Ivy League connections or that the Democrats historically have received the bulk of these company's campaign contributions and lobbyist handouts? Hmmmmm?????

Obama may screw up also---we will see in a year or so. It doesn't matter that he is a democrat or a socialist.

But that's okay with you isn't Bonkers? Just as long as you still have Bush to kick around and blame "it doesn't matter that he is a democrat or a socialist" does it?

Just as long as your Obama is there who gives a rip as to the consequences eh?

You are losin it!
Mr. Paulson and Bush gave the banks the trillion $!

Obama is doling out to save cops and teachers jobs, along with car trade ins, and providing the states some money to balance their budgets-----extended unemployment for example.

That man inherited one horrid mess to try and salvage. Admit it.

If those who supported the Bush administration (including talk radio) don't soon repent from their sins of false economy, there won't be enough republicans in Washington to get to eat in the cafeterria!

Even Fayette County may start to lose elections!

He is NOT my Obama.

He was brought on by the actions of the "conservatives" and such idiots as Limbaugh, O'Reilly, Hannity, Coulter, and banking crooks.
All allowed and prideful of by those who refused to listen or understand as to what was goin going!
People were not first! Not even the wounded soldiers!

You don't listen to these guys who you despise very much do you? Limbaugh and Hannity opposed Bush and the Republicans on so many big gumament issues during Bush's reign and not to mention the conservatives were shut out for the most part during that time also. You are cluesless as to what Hannity and Rush speak on. With many of the topics and views that you post; if you were actually listen to them with an open mind and weren't such a stubborn old character you would be amazed as to how much common ground you would actually have with these guys. But then again you a bit "prideful" yourself eh? Eye-wink

People were not first!

And they still aren't first Bonkers. The banks, big business, Wall Street, the lobbyist, Washington and it's insiders.... they are all STILL first. NOTHING has changed other than to expand their power base to take over more away from the "People". We are losing our rights and destiny to choose our health care, to better ourselves, families and communities financially while losing our liberties and freedoms to a regime who unashamedly looks down upon the tenents that made this country what is and gave him the opportunities that he is destroying for our children.

And you defend and praise him constantly Bonkers. This man IS YOUR Obama.

I do a lot of driving and if I want to listen to talk radio around South GA or FL I have no choice but to listen to Hannity and Rush if I want to hear some talk radio. I'm not so sure you listen because if you did you would have heard Cheney on Hannity all the time. It's no secret that Hannity and Rush are on the GOP payroll

Actually Hannity is on Obama's payroll BF. Obama owns GM and Hannity's biggest advertiser is Gumament Motors. I'm sure that will change as soon that contract is up.

GOP Payroll.... You libs are something else.

Yeah, you are probably right, with the GM contract. The same bad decisions the CEO made over the years like expand the Hummer line, let the euros and the asians get way ahead of us on efficiency, advertising on Hannity, should all be corrected with some good visionary leadership if they can find some. Ford's new CEO seems on the right track, now if all our people would stop buying POS KIAs etc and buy American we could get somewhere.

So, I'm a Lib because I don't like your boy Hannity? This really sucks that now thanks to gas bags like OReilly calling themselves Independants, essentially letting Repubs hijack that label too. So now anyone like me who has a different opinion and does not fit in with the sheep becomes a Lib.

That's the WHOLE PROBLEM here with what's happened to the Republican party, if you don't think the same way everyone else does then you are labeled and ostracized whether you are joe public or a war hero.

I am patriotic to my country not to one of these special interest parties. They are all accountable to us and they all work for us. IT IS OK TO ASK BUSH OR OBAMA WHAT THE H#$% THEY ARE DOING with our money and our country.

The point is that these pundits are dividing up people which is weakening our country. It's not just opinions, it's a lot of anger that stirs people up so they end up hating each other, usually over exaggerated half-truths and BS.

Just keep dressing up your kitty kats in fun outfits and everything will be OK. Maybe you can get some 'factor gear' in a cute pink with ruffles for Mr. Sparkles

I'll bet advertising on Hannity is probably one of the best investments GM has made. I suspect he sells the hell out 'em for GM. But regardless.... Hannity will be dumped by the Obama regime.

now if all our people would stop buying POS KIAs etc and buy American we could get somewhere.

Tell ya what... It'll be a cold day in hell before I EVER buy another GM or Chrysler product again.

Now Flag Boy..... No I don't think your a Lib because you don't vote for Hannity. I think you're a lib because I've been reading your opinions, views and postings. I will agree with you on one thing though.... the term 'independent' has most certainly been bastardized by frustrated voters from both sides of the fence.

That's the WHOLE PROBLEM here with what's happened to the Republican party, if you don't think the same way everyone else does then you are labeled and ostracized whether you are joe public or a war hero.

No silly man. That has nothing to do with what has happened to the Republican party. Your party does the same thing to those in it that disagree with their views. What happened to the Republican party is they gave lip service to smaller government, conservative ideas and fiscal restraint. THAT is why they are in the position they are in now. Has nothing to do with labeling.

The point is that these pundits are dividing up people which is weakening our country. It's not just opinions, it's a lot of anger that stirs people up so they end up hating each other, usually over exaggerated half-truths and BS.

My God did we find common ground with that statement. Well put. Very well put.

Maybe you can get some 'factor gear' in a cute pink with ruffles for Mr. Sparkles

Never watch the guy Flagger. Sorry... won't be buying 'any gear'. I'm not into fads.
