PTC expands school zones to cover crosswalks, path crossings

Peachtree City residents are being reminded to be on the lookout for children using the cart paths and streets in the mornings and afternoons once school starts Aug. 10.

Officials also have noted that children will also be congregating at bus stops throughout the city, so caution is urged in those areas as well.

The city has expanded its school safety zones and enhanced signs to help remind motorists to slow down. The zones were expanded to include crosswalks and path crossings used by children before and after school, officials said.

Each school zone has a speed limit of 25 mph.

Completion of the new sign installation was expected this week, officials said.
