ALL contractors must adhere to the criteria set by the government regarding equal opportunity for Americans in the work place according to the Department of Labor. This criterion is not just for 'white' contractors or 'black' contractors - but for American contractors. After 48 years, the criteria attempts to assure that everyone has an EQUAL OPPORTUNITY to work - regardless of race, gender, religion, etc. It is not being implemented today just for minorities. This 'rule of law' works for 'whites' and 'men' as well. Isn't that the goal of equal opportunity for all - for ALL AMERICANS? After 48 years, Affirmative Action is no longer of great concern to minorities. The hoped for result was the end to discrimination in the American workforce. The interpretation of the Constitution as related to Affirmative Action has helped to a certain degree – and white males have used the correct interpretation to assist them in receiving justice as recently observed in the New Haven firefighters case.
