Peachtree City police today announced the arrests of three people, including a brother and sister, in connection with a shooting and armed robbery at the Ridgefield Condominiums in January that left one man shot in the abdomen. Police have had Joseph Kyle Sibley, 28, and Jennifer Leigh Sibley, 25, both of Lynn Circle, Newnan in custody since June 18. Today police also announced the recent arrest of James Scott Sessions, 36, of Wildflower Lane, Douglasville. Sessions was transferred to the Fayette County Jail from Washington State Prison where he was serving prison sentences for trafficking in methamphetamine, possession of narcotics/opiates, possession of marijuana and theft by receiving stolen property, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections. The theft offense was committed in Fayette County while the other three were committed in Coweta County, records indicated. The Sibleys, who have remained jailed without bond since their arrest, were charged with being a party to the crime of armed robbery. Sessions has been charged with armed robbery and is being held at the Fayette County Jail awaiting a bond hearing at Fayette County Magistrate Court. The victim, Philip Shawn Curl, 36, was taken to the hospital after he was shot in the abdomen during the incident, police said. Curl told police he did not know who shot him, and police later determined that a suspect had entered the home and committed an armed robbery. Details of the suspects’ involvement in the robbery and shooting have not yet been released by police. The incident touched off a manhunt conducted by the police department with assistance from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office including its Hawk 1 helicopter. As a precaution officials locked down nearby schools including Booth Middle and Oak Grove, Huddleston and Braelinn elementary schools. login to post comments |
