Sessions tried to be affirmed as a supreme court justice when he was very young, but failed.
Van you imagine 20-25 years ago a red-nek from Alabamahaving a chance?
He still feels the sting of that and ain't about to vote for a Hispanic Brooklynite.

Senator Hatch also wanted to be Preasident, but George Bush, Sr, won out---then he wanted also to be a supreme court justcie but got beat out by Roberts and Scalito.
He is also teed off!

Here they are both extremely qualified and of high recognition and are getting ignored for a Female hispanic from Brooklyn. How could it happen?

Because we know more about how they would vote than we do Sotomayor!

Funny, Bonko, I see nothing in his official bio about any such desire or attempt. He has, however, had a distinguished legal career, including successful private practice, US District Atty and Attorney General for Alabama.

OK, I know what you're talking about now Bonko--it was when President Reagan was trying to launch Sessions on the Supreme Court track by nominating him for a US District Court Judgeship and the Senate failed to confirm based on comments he made that they felt were racial in nature. And that was 20 years ago--regardless, citizens of Alabama overwhelmingly voted to return him to the Senate in 2008. And just maybe his views have changed somewhat in 20 yrs.
