Senator Allan Stuart Franken (D) Minn.

The fun making has started about a comedian being a Senator, so I thought you ought to know something about him besides the comedian part, which he learned in high-school.

Franken was born in NYC to Jewish parents but they mocved to Minn. Early in his life.
He graduated from high school where he was a wrestler in Minn..
He is a cousin of NBCs Bob Frankin.

He graduated from Harvard, Cum Laude, with a BA degree in Political Science.
He has been awarded a 10 year award from the USO and often visits VA hospitals.

Franken is married (32 years), and has two kids--one a teacher with a Harvard Degree, and another a Mechanical Engineer from Princeton.

He earned three EMMY awards and 7 nominations. He has written 5 NYT best-selling books, three in #1 slot.

He admits to using drugs on Saturday Night Live, where he co-produced wrote and starred, but not since.
Franken is a Kennedy School of Government Fellow.

He is Pro Choice and wants stricter gun controls. He is not a right wing democrat and doesn't hold with all of their platforms.

As with any Senator (or Governor of Alaska), we will need to see how long and with what results he serves!

He ought to beat Jessee Ventura and the SC governor!

Just what in the hell does Franken's position have to do with the (former) Gov of Alaska? To his credit, he said"I'm not going to be the 50th Democrat vote, but to be the 2d Senator from Minnesota." We'll see how all that translates in his votes.

She is still Governor---not former.

She worked people to death in her campaign, spent their money donations, made promises to the voters, and then quit half-way through the first term!
That obviously is to make money quickly spouting how to "do things!"

She sacrificed those who helped her for money coming from the publicity McCain gave her.

She couldn't handle her odd family, being a criticized governor, and at the same time travel from Alaska down here where the money is to be made.

I don't know who and how she plans to keep her two babies, (her teen-ager is obviously too young to do that for her) rest of the family, fly thousands of miles to speak 20 minutes twice a week at 50 grand per, and salmon fish with Todd.

Sometimes you can't have it all!

Some old theme.. New target..

"When the person who in possession of a government, shall say to a nation, I hold this power in 'contempt' of you, it signifies not on what authority he pretends to say it is..but an aggravation to a person in slavery"..Thomas Paine

One of my personal favorites.

I'd rather entrust the government of the United States to the first 400 people listed in the Boston telephone directory than to the faculty of Harvard University.
