Food Lion supermarket to bring 70 new jobs to east F’villeTue, 07/07/2009 - 3:33pm

Food Lion will unveil its first store in Fayetteville, located at 12160 County Line Road, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony this Wednesday at 8 a.m. The first 200 customers to enter the store will get a free reusable bag filled with private label products, including cereal, pasta, snack crackers and other items. The 41,000-square-foot store will have approximately 80 associates, with about 70 positions being created for the new store, and will feature a large fresh produce department and a deli/bakery with in-store decorated cakes, specialty meats, cheeses and breads, as well as a large meat department featuring Butcher’s Brand Premium Beef, fresh pork, poultry and seafood. Customers will also enjoy an expanded Hispanic section, as well as an expanded variety of wines. The new store also offers Western Union services, Rug Doctor rentals, Blue Rhino propane exchange and lottery. The store will be open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily. Customers who use their MVP card while shopping at the store between July 8 and Aug. 4 will be entered for a chance to win “Free Groceries for a Year.” The grand prize winner will receive $5,200 in Food Lion gift cards, while four additional winners will receive $500 in Food Lion gift cards. Keith Behrens, a native of Fayetteville, will be the manager of the new store. He has 30 years of retail management experience and joined the company in September 2008. “We look forward to being a good neighbor and becoming a vital part of the Fayetteville community,” Behrens said. “Food Lion is dedicated to the communities it serves, and we look forward to building great relationships with our neighbors here.
