Gunn named to head F’ville P&Z

Fayetteville City Manager Joe Morton recently announced that Eldridge Gunn is the city’s new director of planning and zoning.

The South Carolina native has been employed with the city since August 2001 and has served as senior planner and city planner.

As city planner, he has managed the Planning and Zoning Department since July 2005. He has been responsible for all planning functions with the city including coordinating the plan reviewing process and administration of the city’s zoning, subdivision and sign regulations. He has also been responsible for coordinating the city’s Comprehensive Plan major update which will be completed this year.

He has a bachelor of science in public administration from Benedict College in Columbia, S.C. He has a number of years of professional planning experience, having served as economic development planner and long-range planning administrator for the City of Columbia, S.C. Planning Department from 1989 to 2000.

That's great! Now if we can just get him to return phone calls we'll be SET!

Don't hold your breath.
If you mean return phone calls the same way David Rast in Peachtree City does, then you mean - Not at all. For some reason, planning people think they are superior to the the common folk and don't want to communicate with them. It may be that actually talking to real people gets in the way of what they learned in school at some liberal university - like maybe the University of Washington or someplace like that.
