Governor Sanford?

Last month, the golden boy of the conservatives! Wow! What a difference a 'trip' makes.

The operative words here are 'character' or 'family values'. Does ' personal principle' or private sexual practices really affect the leader's contribution to his job? Do we elect people on the basis of their sexual practices - or their ability to get a job done? I would hope that we elect people who are 'smart' enough to keep their private business private. How much of a 'leaders' life should be open to the 'public'? Have we punished our religious and political leaders publicly for indiscretions - and prevented the contribution of some real leadership to the solutions of our many problems? What do we want from our leaders? Do our leaders have a right to examine our private business/practices? How much of our private lives should be open to the 'public/our community' if we chose to be of service to the community?

Reading the biographies of some of our most respected world leaders - very few would measure up to puritanical standards of behavior - let alone 'Christian' behavior. I had/have such respect for Eleanor Roosevelt - and really didn't need to read about her sexual preferences - or her husbands 'affair'. Nixon seemed to handle his home life respectfully - but his wife was considered mentally abused. Sanford acted as if another part of his body was in control of his common sense - and that is unfortunate for his wife, children and constituents. Clinton's impeachment proceedings started to falter when the publisher of a 'porn' magazine claimed he had something on every man and women in Congress. Maybe we should extol those in power who are maintaining a positive picture of marriage and parenthood. The positive picture should be the role model for demonstrating the responsibility/privilege of ‘power’. Let’s stop relishing the exposure of those who have faltered.

Your attempt to gloat in the misery of another was called. Unlike you democrats the republicans will fire him.

Regardless, you are yet again exposed as the hypocrite we all know you to be.

So, do you have those updates on your democrats under investigation yet?

Perhaps they are all busy reading the latest tax and spend legislation posted at 3am? But then again, maybe like Democrat Marion Barry they are smoking crack with a prostitute before being re-elected by the democrats in Washington. Actually, you remind me of Mayor Barry:

"The contagious people of Washington have stood firm against diversity during this long period of increment weather." -- M. Barry, Mayor of Washington, DC

"I promise you a police car on every sidewalk." -- M. Barry, Mayor of Washington, DC

"If you take out the killings, Washington actually has a very very low crime rate." -- M. Barry, Mayor of Washington, DC

"First, it was not a strip bar, it was an erotic club. And second, what can I say? I'm a night owl." -- M. Barry, Mayor of Washington, DC

"Bitch set me up." -- M. Barry, Mayor of Washington, DC

"I am clearly more popular than Reagan. I am in my third term. Where's Reagan? Gone after two! Defeated by George Bush and Michael Dukakis no less." -- M. Barry, Mayor of Washington, DC

"The laws in this city are clearly racist. All laws are racist. The law of gravity is racist." -- M. Barry, Mayor of Washington, DC

"I am making this trip to Africa because Washington is an international city, just like Tokyo, Nigeria or Israel. As mayor, I am an international symbol. Can you deny that to Africa?" -- M. Barry, Mayor of Washington, DC

"People have criticized me because my security detail is larger than the president's. But you must ask yourself: are there more people who want to kill me than who want to kill the president? I can assure you there are." -- M. Barry, Mayor of Washington, DC

"The brave men who died in Vietnam, more than 100% of which were black, were the ultimate sacrifice." -- M. Barry, Mayor of Washington, DC

"I read a funny story about how the Republicans freed the slaves. The Republicans are the ones who created slavery by law in the 1600's. Abraham Lincoln freed the slaves and he was not a Republican." -- M. Barry, Mayor of Washington, DC

"What right does Congress have to go around making laws just because they deem it necessary?" -- M. Barry, Mayor of Washington, DC

"People blame me because these water mains break, but I ask you, if the water mains didn't break, would it be my responsibility to fix them then? WOULD IT!?!" -- M. Barry, Mayor of Washington, DC

"I am a great mayor; I am an upstanding Christian man; I am an intelligent man; I am a deeply educated man; I am a humble man." -- M. Barry, Mayor of Washington, DC

DM thinks that Clinton was impeached for having sex with someone other than his wife, not for lying under oath in order to obstruct justice.

The government is like a baby's alimentary canal, with a
happy appetite at one end and no responsibility at the
other. -- Ronald Reagan

I don't think anyone seems to be relishing the exposure of Sanford's "faltering", as you put it. Except maybe the Mainstream Media and you in your beginning blog. I am totally disgusted and outraged that he used such poor judgement and left his wife, four sons, and the state to pursue this woman in another country. This was an act of pure selfishness and thoughtlessness. He abandoned his vows to his wife, abandoned his sons (on Father's Day, no less) and abandoned his state and the responsibilities of his office. Anyone that possesses such lack of character and principle has no business staying office. I hope he resigns or is impeached.

David's Mom, your original posting was nothing of a character matter. It was a general baiting of Republicans in general. You may little note nor care as to the source of that man's popularity nationally. But many noted a stand against the porkulous package in form of TARP and TARP II. It had nothing to do about character issues or traditional family values. To paint with a broad brush all republicans as hypocrits is a disservice with the main points of most conservatives--it has much more to do with government intrusiveness in the private sector than any social issues. The Democrats also wring their hands about the shortcomings of thier leaders, but are willing to issue vote and pay no heed to the character of their politicians.

There used to be somewhat of a truism that Republican scandles revolved around money and the Democrat scandles revolved are sexual proclivities. Bu the tide has turned and those Republicans have shown to be just as deviant as the Democrats sexually and the Democrats have shown to be just as corrupt financially. To stand on the Democratic dung heap and shout that your dung heap smells sweeter than the republican one is full of futile fury, and is mostly just partisan sniping. You have told no great truth today. Just baiting. Good day Smiling

Oh no you don't. There was no 'Republican baiting' in that statement. . .more like’ conservative hypocrite’ baiting. Not all Republicans are conservative hypocrites. Not all Democrats are ‘liberal truth tellers’ in my opinion. We - the public - vote for our leaders - and it's not just the Democrats who should be accused of paying no heed to the character of their politicians. Any politician, regardless of party, who is careless with his personal life and private business, is exposed to public scrutiny. You need to get off the 'dung heap' - and see what our young people are observing as 'role models'. They could care less if leaders are Democrat or Republican or Libertarian or whatever. IS THEIR PRIVATE BUSINESS OUR BUSINESS? I believe that the public's insatiable appetite for 'scandal' and the necessity for publishing it is the problem - and has been a problem since George Washington was president. Looking through the glasses of ideology does one a disservice. We could play one-upmanship all day! Thomas Jefferson was taken to task for his 'relationship' with Sally Hemmings. (Yet that type of relationship was 'standard' for the day)
What has this information in the hands of the public garnered for the good of the country? Sanford, Clinton, Haggard, Eisenhower, Kennedy - the list goes on and on. Who cares about their 'political party' - I don't. Get off the dung heat - and smell the roses. Maybe the next generation will care more about what service the man/woman offers their constituents rather than who they spend time with in the bedroom. (The victims of infidelity are the members of BOTH families) - not the public!

The way I see it is these Politicians don't get to spout family Values when they don't have none.

them Rockefellers and Rothchilds destroy any political opponents in the press so the one world government agenda keeps going forward.

Anyone running for president who preaches the Constitution, or defends US sovereignty is either blackballed or blacked out in the main stream media.

Just ask Ron Paul.

You really need to see a movie called "BUG" with Ashley Judd. You can see what happens to people that let Paranoia take over their lives. Believe me I only watched it because Judd was in it..and then only parts.

I have seen the film, it was very good, sad ending though.

But, paranoia? Seriously? Lets define:

paranoia:

Paranoia is a thought process characterized by excessive anxiety or fear, often to the point of irrationality and delusion. Paranoid thinking typically includes persecutory beliefs concerning a perceived threat towards oneself.

Paranoid, irrational, and delusional I am NOT, for the enemy IS real, not imagined.

The condition Judd had in "BUG" was an IMAGINED parasitic infestation, or delusional parasitosis.

That is what I'm talking about DD, real in YOUR mind. You sound like all the above that you mention. Paranoid, irrational, and delusional. I see all these when and if I read your rantings. You might mean well, but you sound like one of the bunch of looney's out there. You remember the boy who cried wolf, well, if I was you I would take it to heart.

You said "Judd looks good necked". I guess that part of your thinking is normal...maybe there is hope for you yet, you are a guy, right.....

and white papers of the globalist think tanks run by the international bank cartels, and see their agenda taking shape, it is not in your mind.

I admit there are a few loons out there, but I don't blog about anything that can't be proven with facts and documents.

These people want a one world government run by the banksters, who all countries will pay carbon taxes to, they are very close to having it. If you think not, I'm sorry, but you are lost. I wish it wasn't happening, I don't relish the day when I can say I told you so to all the doubters.

Ignorance of their workings and goings on is their biggest ally, for as long as no one knows what they are planning, and how they are bringing it about, the more they can accomplish towards their ends.

An excerpt on an e-mail From Sanford to Maria.

You have a particular grace and calm that I adore. You have a level of sophistication that so fitting with your beauty. I could digress and say that you have the ability to give magnificent gentle kisses, or that I love your tan lines or that I love the curve of your hips, the erotic beauty of you holding yourself (or two magnificent parts of yourself) in the faded glow of the night’s light - but hey, that would be going into sexual details ...

How romantic, if only the above e-mail was written to his wife.

These Politicians, some have a Genetic Flaw, they can't help themselves when it comes to women. Governor Sanford, is one of many.

I think he is so infatuated with the other women, he is not thinking straight. He runs off to faraway places not even telling anyone where he was going, not even his office(how off the wall is that). Personally, I don't think he has a lick of sense so he needs to step down from the Governors office. What kind of Politician would write this personal e-mail on a computer in the Governor's office?

Nope if I lived in South Carolina I would want Sanford to step down. He left his brains at an undisclosed location.

Submitted by AtHomeGym on Sun, 06/28/2009 - 11:27am.

We could practice a little fairness here and post some of Maria's emails too. They show that they were equally infatuated with each other. And no, that doesn't make what Sanford did excusable, but that sort of thing has been happening ever since there were such things as men and women. It's called "The reality of life."

Submitted by boo boo on Sun, 06/28/2009 - 1:05pm.

You said "We could practice a little fairness here and post some of Maria's e-mails too".
Are you trying to put the blame on the other woman? Who cares what she said. It was Sanford who fell for her charms, knowing he had a WIFE and 4 Children. He could have said, sorry, I'm married, but no he chose the Mistress.

Maybe it is the real thing, who knows, but a decent, honest person would have asked his wife for a divorce before cavorting around with MARIA, the other woman. He wanted his cake and eat it too. He knew this would ruin his chances to further his political career so he chose to hide, lie, cheat, not just on his wife and 4 children, but the people of South Carolina.

He is a hypocrite of the worst kind....and I hope the people South Carolina throw the bum out of office.

Submitted by AtHomeGym on Sun, 06/28/2009 - 4:15pm.

I will agree that he has serious character flaws; I also wager that he will serve the 18 month remainder of his term.

Submitted by boo boo on Sun, 06/28/2009 - 6:33pm.

You are probably right but if he ever throws out how holy he is again I hope someone throws a pie right in his face. Perhaps his Wife. I feel sorry for the kids who have a dip-doodle for a Father. The children are always the ones to suffer in situations like this.. He gave them no thought what so ever. What an ICK!
