Peachtree City is going to undertake significant repairs and upgrades at its four fire stations along with resurfacing the City Hall parking lot in the coming year at a cost of $1.08 million.

The projects will be funded along with loans previously approved by council to repair a sinkhole underneath a portion of City Hall and complete renovations at the city’s police headquarters. In total the loan works out to $2.38 million and the debt service will be approximately $218,000 a year, according to Finance Director Paul Salvatore.

Among the work will be replacing septic service with sewer service at the Weber station and the Satterthwaite station. The Satterthwaite station will be remodeled and expanded to accommodate the larger group of firefighters added to the station.

Also the Neely station will undergo driveway and parking lot repairs, roof repairs and a redesign of its heating ventilation and cooling system.

The Leach station will also have driveway and parking lot repairs.

If PTC has their "shovels ready" couldn't they get stimulus money from Washington to do all of this work?

Maybe Westmoreland didn't want any of this money? I know PTC didn't!
Sonny didn't either but he took it anyway! DeCotia got some of it!

More hypocricy!

I suspect that one million dollars might be cheap if the recent energy bill passed by congress does become law. There is a lot of petroleum in blacktop. A tax you can believe in.

Why must we always pay the banks twice as much for a loan as we could have fixed one fire station a year at 200 grand out of the budget and have had NO INTEREST?

So a hole, some driveways, a roof patch and a short sewer line will cost 2.38 Million? The police station AGAIN?
We have a recession you tax mongers!

One can only wonder when this hole under city hall was discovered, how large it is and why it was not fixed sooner? Here is another thought... could it be that this city council is just so bad that the ground is trying to open up and swallow them?
