Taxes based on home prices

This method of raising money to support a county and city budget has always been a farce. It must be eliminated as soon as possible.
Since it is only a part of the formula to raise the money, the other part being the millage rate, home value has always been a way for politicians to raise taxes without calling it a tax raise!
It is simply a price one pays for owning a home going up in value!
Since the current recession has devalued homes considerably more than the county appraisers dare to rate them, then the system has made dishonest men and women out of our tax people! They know most homes and business are not worth what they now say they are---they know it. If you can't sell a home or a business for anything---then it is worth nothing in reality!

They are in direct violation of the state law requiring them to value the homes honestly. That law was created when it was discovered that they never devalued property---only raised values.

It is of course one of the banking problems we now have.

One county in the metro area admits that they are in violation and don't care if they are. They are not going to cut their budget to income.

Anyway nothing is critical in a budget except schools, firemen and policemen, and of course the fringes and optional training.

What do you want: Taxes to support expenses; no tax increases--cut the above and of course eliminate most other expenses and simply do without them (recreation, roads, sewers, etc.).

Much of the work can be done by volunteers and part-time cheap workers anyway.

40 students per class is possible--I went to such. One half police and firemen--manned by cheap employees and volunteers is possible---done at one time. Is this what you want?
Or more taxes?
Take federal money as we are now and bitch about it. Sounds good.

What happened to these people?

Would a so-called fair tax pay our home and property taxes also---and commercial property and inventory taxes?

School Taxes; City Taxes; Sales Taxes (the add-ons SPLOSTS, etc.); fishing, hunting, and business taxes; Where does their (fair tax) income come from in a depression?

I srill say we charge other countries for our stuff as the federal income. States and localities can fend for themselves.

The difference... it is added on to the current tax structure.. net loss for the people .. net gain to the Government....

"When the person who in possession of a government, shall say to a nation, I hold this power in 'contempt' of you, it signifies not on what authority he pretends to say it is..but an aggravation to a person in slavery"..Thomas Paine
