Police: don’t block intersectionsFri, 06/19/2009 - 2:46pm

Enforcement coming at highways 54/74 Peachtree City police are warning motorists to avoid blocking the middle of the busy intersection at Ga. highways 54 and 74. According to Georgia law, green doesn’t always mean go, police say. Georgia code section 40-6-205 forbids drivers from entering an intersection “unless there is sufficient space on the other side of the intersection to accommodate the vehicle he is operating without obstructing the passage of other vehicles or pedestrians, notwithstanding any traffic control signal indication to proceed.” Police will be enforcing that law at the 54-74 intersection in coming days “to promote improved safety and convenience for all drivers,” police said in a recent news release. Most of the problems are occurring during afternoon drive time for commuters, police said. Local drivers are also reminded that the Peachtree City Police Department now has an online traffic complaint system where they can report non-emergency traffic issues through a web-based form at www.Peachtree-City.org/Traffic. Citizens are encouraged to utilize this online form for non-emergency traffic complaints because it helps distribute important information about complaints to officers and/or other relevant personnel in the most time efficient manner possible. login to post comments |
