Miranda Rights for Terrorists

If Tenet is right, it’s a good thing KSM was captured before Barack Hussein Obama became president. For, the Obama Justice Department has quietly ordered FBI agents to read Miranda rights to high value detainees captured and held at U.S. detention facilities in Afghanistan, according a senior Republican on the House Intelligence Committee.

Treating terrorism as a law-enforcement problem - change you can believe in!!

"The Department of Justice acknowledged Wednesday that FBI agents have read terrorist suspects their rights overseas, at Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan and other places, to "preserve the quality of evidence obtained."

But Justice Department spokesman Dean Boyd insisted the move does not represent a "policy change" and that no "blanket instruction" was given to the FBI to Mirandize detainees. Officials said it was a practice that began under the Bush administration.

Gen. David Petraeus, head of Central Command, said Thursday that FBI agents, not members of the U.S. military, have read rights to detainees in only a "very limited number of cases" and that the practice had been used in other countries previously.

"This is the FBI doing what the FBI does," Petraeus said. "So we are comfortable with this."

You are correct about terrorists havine few "rights."
The problem is that most of these people are NOT terrorists and have had no trial.

They are not prisoners of war either but get no Geneva Convention rights due to that!

Two-thirds of the FITMO prisoners after six years are now gone from GITMO--they were not terrorists.

Of those few prisoners left we don't know how many are terrorists either. Just picking up people on the street and putting them in jail doesn't make them terrorists. They are probably prisoners of war, however.

Another thing I noticed today---there is a fellow who has 21 kids by several women and part of them are on welfare, he furnishes half of what he makes.
Also the so-called Octomom has 14 kids and everyone seems to want to crucify her, not help her.

Most of these complainers are right wing---the same people who don't want any regulations by the government!
I suppose if NO TAXES were used for any of this they would be happy to see these people in the woods somewhere, dieing.
It certainly wouldn't stop the having of kids to ignorant and radical people.

First, if apprehended in a foreign country, I don't believe they have any rights. Only if there was sufficient cause to believe they would ever be brought to trial in the US would there be any reason to "mirandize" them, and second, there are not always any FBI agents present when apprehension happens. The FBI is a domestic law enforcement organization that does not have an international intelligence mission. The CIA does that. Not to say that there aren't FBI agents deployed outside the US--of course there are and for a variety of reasons, but not always guaranteed to be present when terrorists are caught.
