Ted Rall: It’s increasingly evident that Obama should resign

THE STATE JOURNAL-REGISTER
Posted May 29, 2009 @ 12:02 AM

MIAMI — We expected broken promises. But the gap between the soaring expectations that accompanied Barack Obama’s inauguration and his wretched performance is the broadest such chasm in recent historical memory. This guy makes Bill Clinton look like a paragon of integrity and follow-through.

From health care to torture to the economy to war, Obama has reneged on pledges real and implied. So timid and so owned is he that he trembles in fear of offending, of all things, the government of Turkey. Obama has officially reneged on his campaign promise to acknowledge the Armenian genocide. When a president doesn’t have the nerve to annoy the Turks, why does he bother to show up for work in the morning?

And Ted Rall is a lib!! Go figure....change you can believe in.

The date on the column that Fred filched was May 29th. Fredo didn't get around to posting it here until yesterday, June 1st. So rather than "4 days", it actually was here closer to one day. Not that accuracy means anything to you, of course. Eye-wink

Insofar as commenting goes, I generally don't respond to any of the puerile fringe-right crap that Fred floods this board with...or Darth Dubious tin-foil hat stuff either. I'm very sorry if this disappoints you, but if Fredo wanted to have a serious discussion on something he should at least put things in his own words.

SL, I know it's just a "Southernism" but if you don't know and would like to know, I can tell you what a "pea pickin" amounts to in the real world! I've been personally in "Picking peanuts" in Eastern North Carolina.

If you decide to get some of those Carroll Farms peaches, ask them if they are freestone--the ones we bought on Sunday were not and they are a real PITA to slice and you lose a lot of peach. Your call. Oh, for the indoctrinated, "freestone" peaches are those where the pit separates in one piece--quite easily.

All this time I thought it was just me gettin the peach pit separating thing right Shocked Didn't know it had anything to do with the peach itself. I love it when someone breaks up the monotony with a post you can really use for something!

Thanks Smiling

We're not even close to stopping to bring up Bush. You guys act like history started with Obama. There's a post deriding Obama for sucking up to the Turks and saying he should resign and it's somehow not kosher for me to point out that Bush did exactly the same thing with no criticism from the same people complaining now? The Bushies still blame 9/11 on Clinton even though it happened 9 months after he left office and Bush got briefings telling him it was going to happen. Carter gets criticized for gas lines and inflation without a whisper that the gas lines started under Nixon and Ford's feeble Whip Inflation Now program. History always seems to start anew when the D's come into office while the R's challenges extend back into the mist of time.

In fact, we're going to try our best to hang Bush and Cheney around the neck of whoever the R's nominate in 2012 regardless of who it is. Then, after Obama wins again, we're going to do it again in 2016.

When Trig Palin and Mitt Romney's granddaughter's child runs we're going to compare him to Bush and Cheney.

Don't you read Faulkner? Here in the South, the past isn't prologue, it's not even the past.

A question. What is the thought behind Cheney now admitting that there was/is no evidence of Hussein's/Iraq involvement with 9/11?

can't seem to get her facts together.. Cheney/Bush never said there was a link...
"Dick Cheney, on Meet the Press dated September 16, 2001: " Saddam Hussein's bottled up at this point, but clearly we continue to have a fairly tough policy where the Iraqis are concerned."

Tim Russert, Host of Meet the Press: "Do we have any evidence linking Saddam Hussein or Iraqis to this operation?"

Cheney: "No."

What did he say?

Get past your ideology DM or you will always be beating a dead dog..
and BTW.. just what does this have to do with todays problems..??
The point? You guys love to live in the past.. you just can't get over your hatred for Pres Bush.. Well Bush is gone your guy is in and btw not doing to well.. and what do you do.. BRING UP A WAR THAT YOUR OWN PEOPLE VOTED FOR.. and don't give me that he lied crap.. they all saw the same intelligence.. Clinton said he had wmds, all the dems said it.. they all said Saddam needs to be taken out.. and every major intel network in the world said it.. so get over it.. If Bush lied then so did all the dems.. and so did the WORLD.

Question asked still not answered by dm: What does the oath of office for Justices say about including "Life History" or "Empathy"??

some of you have.. Blame someone else .. Heck Blame anyone else.. Pres Bush did his damage as well as The Dems that controlled Congress.. then The repubs that did not have the stones to stand up to the MSM and just wanted to be loved.. Why do you think I chucked the whole bunch in the garbage can?? Pres Bush could have stopped the Dem spending by using a veto..but did he.. NOPE.. he just smiled thinking.."Can't we all just get along".. The Repubs did exactly the same.. Jeff do you forget that the Pres does not control spending.. he can bring a budget push for it's passage..but it must be APPROVED by the House and Congress controls the purse strings..
So Jeff by shifting Blame to Pres Bush you are being intellectually dishonest because I know you know the answer..
BOTH PARTIES SPENT LIKE DRUNKEN SAILORS IN SHANGHAI and NO ONE stopped them..
SO to my main point.. Jeff we can look to the past.. as well as we should.. we must remember and LEARN from past mistakes.. but because "they" did it first should not mean WE KEEP DOING IT OVER AND OVER HOPING FOR A DIFFERENT RESULT.. THE SPENDING MUST STOP.. WE MUST PULL BACK RIGHT NOW.. We are all on the USA Titanic we are all partying it up having a good time.. While the Ship sails past Icebergs.. The Captain is not at the helm he's off visiting dignataries and the crew is ordering FULL SPEED AHEAD. Can we slow down so the collision is not fatal? I don't think so.. I'm just looking for the life boats now..

Missed your comments here when MOC went all the way back to judge BORK.

That's before Bush. That's even before Clinton. You commented multiple times on the thread, so I know you read it. As a matter of fact, whenever I hear the "you guys said worse to Bush" line, you are never there to bring out your Bush derangement syndrome.

Why is that?

Have a great week Eye-wink

When you have as much grey in your hair as you do brown..Cool

Diva.. I am really really really serious here.. I am worried about AMERICA.. and it's future.. I may be saying the "Sky is falling" here but I don't see a way out of this mess.. We are now looking at a potential 12 Trillon dollar deficit.. Hyper Inflation is now being said by almost EVERY INDEPENDANT Economist as being right around the corner..
We are spending OUR selves to death.. and all I hear is "MORE PLEASE"... More "FREE" Healthcare.. "FREE" Universal College Education.. "GREEN" jobs.. We will not drill.. so we remain in the grips of the Saudis.. We will not control "EARMARKS".. NO ONE is keeping their promises in Washington.. and too many are just "whistling" past the Cemetery... Heck even RUSSIA for God's sake is lecturing us about Freedom.. I mean "OMG" Shocked
I would like "US" to focus on the present and the FUTURE.. I know where we have been.. Wasn't happy then either, but I see where we are headed and that scares the crap out of me..

I remember those days when I had as much brown in my hair as I do gray, on the upside it's better for it to turn gray then to turn loose.

however, I feel I have earned every one of these grays! I always look at it based on Proverbs 16:31 - "A gray head is a crown of glory; It is found in the way of righteousness". Also good when retail workers ask if I'd like my senior citizen's discount!

For an excellent article on where we are headed and why, see Thomas Sowell's column in todays Opinion Section of the AJC. Be interesting to see some Dem rebuttal of the substance in his column.

I don't get the AJC anymore so I didn't read Uncle Tom's column. When Cal prints it I'll comment on it for you. He's usually easy to rebut as well as being predictable. What was the topic? I can probably anticipate his position and rebut it without reading it.

Don't nip it in the bud Fred!

Applaud any attempt for them to rationalize, but gently redirect it in such a way as to make them think it was THEIR idea.

Otherwise they will always just be emotive, knee-jerk, liberals incapable of proper rational thought. Eye-wink
