... that you can see how the light reflects off of their skin while they take it.

Counts 40% huh?

Guess what percentage of top scores on the written exam were white?

Guess what percentage of top scores on the oral portion were black?

I know that many whites "skruggle" with the English language but there still must have been some very high scores on the oral portion by the blacks and Hispanics to "meets" with that level of "sussess". Maybe whites can use a teleprompter on the next exam.

We have finally reached a point where reverse discrimination is accepted as politically correct and lawful.

This process which includes the taping of the role play/etc. has been successful.

The sad reality is that very few of the qualified younger generation are applying for teaching positions - let alone doing the work necessary to become an administrator. This process, which was implemented some 20 years ago, was developed after the study of several corporate promotional procedures. The District established an Assessment Center - where administrators, parents, and community members were trained as assessors. The appeal process includes the use of the videos and tapes of conferences and role-play scenarios. The process takes about a week for the candidates - and two weeks for the assessors. The important outcome has been validated by the effective administrators who improved their schools academic achievement and worked cooperatively with their staff and community.
We found that there was no need to 'make sure' that minorities/women passed the test. California has a diverse employee pool. The employees are representative of the national racial percentages. The students are majority Hispanic and Asian. The minority student population is black and white.

Nordstrom's and The Ritz Carlton had input into the alternative assessment procedures.

Forced Indoctrinated Thought Control. Funny how anytime I've ever hired people let go from these large corporations they have proved out to be the least productive and problematic people I have ever hired..... black or white. I'll take the raw individuality any day of the week over your 'yassar masta' empty suits any day of the week.

It's funny how few independent and successful individuals actually prosper in the real world after leaving some of these companies. Okay... maybe it's not so funny. I'll put my politically incorrect team up against the same amount of your indoctrinated corporate hacks any day of the week to see who gits-er-done.

Where is this "magical place", where they prefer individuality and there are no empty suits? It sounds wonderful.

Oh - we always checked to make sure there were at least one or two white males in the pool. Geeez!! In most urban areas - getting a balanced racial make-up (that is qualified) is not that difficult anymore! Smiling

and with helpful eye of AtHomeGym, I see the city did do some form of due diligence with respect to ensure "fair" testing by contracting I/O Solutions to perform these evaluations. Looking at their website, I/O Solutions has a pretty impressive resume.

The good Rev. Kimber and convicted felon with political connections with the mayor got his "knickers in a knot" about the outcome and oh my gosh (with respect to Gov. Palin) was going to apply good old arm twisting to right this terrible wrong (eyes rolling). In the mean time his protest, I believe, only cheapens any form of legitment selection process. He will not be happy until unqualified individuals are promoted. Well I hope New Haven is happy about using tax payer money to spend for nothing. What a stupid mess.

Once again, I'm interested on how the Supremes will vote.

Musta been all that "gettin' busy around the house" that distracted you. Personally, I'm proud of rousting my rear out of bed early and hitting the FC Dump area and getting 2 loads of mulch to spread in needed places. One of the best deals in town--it's free and they load it for you on Saturday.

that. My youngest son's Eagle Scout project used some of that free mulch. It is the best deal in town.

Anyways, the "beast" is now ready to tow the box down to the beach. Only 3½ days till I play with those pesky fish. Smiling

I'm getting ready to get about 4 P/U loads of that mulch myself. You can't go wrong with that stuff and it's the only gumament program around where this white male can get something for free. Cool

Git, they only load it for you on Saturdays, starting at 0730. And if you can, ask for some old stuff that's dried. It's a helluva lot easier to unload. Stuff I had yesterday wasn't cured yet and made me break sweat unloading. I use a grain shovel to do that with.

I'm very familiar with the landfill. I think the process goes like this. Wind blows it down, Git cuts it up, Git loads it up, Git pays $4.00 a load to get past the guard shack, Git unloads it, The night crew chops it up, morning crew loads it up for free, Gym orders kids to unload. Good deal for Gym. Gym watch baseball game.

Seriously... it's a great system. But Git uses a manure fork and a broom.

Thanks for the info.

I didn't know that about Purple Heart vets getting those benefits. Hey... I personally have NO problem what-so-ever with that benny. That's a cheap price the rest of taxpayers have to pay for the freedoms we've enjoyed to this point as a result of our Purple Heart Heroes. Not making light of those that thankfully served and were not wounded nor especially those who gave not only their lives but a part of the lives of their loved ones.

So the expectation is to always have minorities represented. Even if a "sliding scale" is applied that discriminates those outside of the "preferred" race. This is pretty close to quotas.

No - I don't think that is the expectation or the result of alternative testing procedures. The criteria and methodology of the procedure is crystal clear; the persons administrating the process are well-trained; and more importantly, the appeal process is considered fair. If a woman or a racial minority or white male does not get promoted, they have a tested appeal process that can be used. So far - it has worked. Unfortunately - not many promotional exams are being given - and people are just glad to have a job!

Submitted by AtHomeGym on Sat, 05/30/2009 - 2:54pm.

really means "Advancement will no longer be based on Merit". Call it what you want, but it sure smacks of a thinly-veiled quota system. I'd like to know what cities are doing this--got any names?

Submitted by AtHomeGym on Sat, 05/30/2009 - 1:19pm.

Appears to me that the city made the decision not to certify test results in an effort to avoid a possible lawsuit from one of the minorities who did not qualify and in doing so, created themselves a different, maybe worse problem. Not sure they got best legal advice. Even if one of the minorities had filed suit, I don't think the City would have had any problem proving that the tests were racially neutral. What no one knows is "How much did each test participant study?" Ricci claims to have studied 12-13 hrs daily. No published claims from others. And from what I read, the Appeals Court decision was simply about whether or not what the city did was legal--doesn't mean it was smart or ethical. I'm betting it gets overturned. And just what sort of loyalty would you now expect to the city from those who scored high and got nothing for their efforts? Wouldn't be surprised to see retirements and resignations forthcoming.

I'm curious as to why New Haven didn't decide to go ahead and certify and let the appeal process work. I suspect they caved into political pressure from Rev. Boise Kimber.

That was my understanding after briefly going over the court case. I think that had the plaintiffs utilized a mediator first - the outcome would have been different. New Haven, IMO, took the course of least resistance - and simply did not certify the test. . .therefore no harm, no foul. The court was not responsible for judging the 'fairness' but the 'law'. No doubt the political pressure from Kimber played a big role in New Haven's decision - and the court acknowledged this - but that was not what the plaintiffs were suing about. Their 'rights' under the law, had not been violated - according to the court.

Well the city claims it did not to certify because they felt the test (which I'm assuming the city has used before) is now suddenly not in alignment with VII.

I believe it was political pressure by the good Rev. Kimber et al. It will be interesting to see how the "Supremes" will rule. Either way, someone or group will not be happy. I've got to get busy around the house. Talk tonight.

No Cy, they went out and contracted with a company that specialized in developing tests for Safety officials like firefighters and law enforcement. Tests were reviewed for accuracy/level of knowledge required for Lieutenant/Captain by fire officials outside of CT--one reviewer was here in Georgia!
