Tyrone remembers veterans

Visitors checked out the memorial pavers at Tyrone’s new Veterans’ Park Monday for the city’s Memorial Day ceremony. Guest speaker Ret. Col. Don Dickinson implored veterans to share their stories instead of remaining silent so others can appreciate the necessity of war. Photo/John Munford.

Hmmm.....
I can see soldiers dicussing the "horrors" of war...
the "hardships" of war.....
the "heroic sacrifices" of war.....
but...the "necessity" of war?

...I think it might be similar to the need to impose one's will, but on a larger scale, like your man Roosevelt.

...being a bit nitpicky today, aren't we? That war is an option, it will always be inevitable. Senseless, horrific, brutal are but three descriptions I can give which makes it a shame that those who hawkishly promote it seldom participate.

We remain indebted to those who have made sacrifices that most take for granted.
