Some people are just never happy. I'm just glad that they were on the ball and are taking care of business. Expect the unexpected...perhaps it is good for the crooks to "assume" where the police are suppose to be at any particular time. The element of surprise!Great job, once again!

I appreciate Mcnaughton and McCollum out there stopping a criminal but my question is why are the school resources officers for SMH and RSMS not at the schools especially three days before graduation, what are they doing in FAyetteville, heading south on 85. I am all about the help, but let patrol do their job, and keep the sro's where they are assigned, in the schools. SMH and RSMS has enough problems and they need to be there trying to clean up their issues with drugs and underage drinking.

What pray tell are the parents and the rather large staff of administrators, teachers and para pros doing if there is a problem with drugs and underage drinking at SMH & RSMS? Have we shifted the responsibility of disciplining our kids to the 'Resource Officer"? What are we paying the administrators to do? Where is PARENTAL RESPONSIBILITY??? Sense that we may be perpetuating a bureaucracy that is continuing to grow on itself, and shifting the responsibility to others. Do not know the officers, but bet the home owner on Seay Road is thanking the Good Lord that the Deputies 'were Serving and Protecting' instead of babysitting!!

Maybe they had work to do at the office? A meeting of the SRO's to discuss the upcoming graduation ceremonies of which you are so worried? Would you be criticizing them if the perps got away due to the fact that the SRO's did not assist the patrol units? Remember, they are officers first and foremost.

Dave McNaughton is an excellent officer.

I have observed him as Resource Officer at SMHS for many years. He is fair and honest, funny and caring and I feel priviledged to know him. He has a relationship with the students that demands respect, yet at the same time he is very approachable. This type of communication is invaluable in his position. I have observed first hand the care he has for students that have made bad choices. He tries to guide and encourage in a firm, but caring way.

Starr's Mill and Fayette County are fortunate to have Sargent McNaughton as a Resource Officer. He works hard to help guide our students and has a positive impact on them each and every day.

I realy wish that McIntosh had this type of SRO. The guy that's there is not approachable. I've spoken to him on several occasions and the most that you get is a curled upper lip, he won't even speak to you.
But I guess that the difference is that Sargent McNaughton is with the
Sheriff's office and the guy at McIntosh works for PTCPD, that says alot.

I saw Sgt Dave McNaughton with the perps out on the ground grabbing grass.

Good job FCSD and by the way McNaughton is my neighbor so I am feeling safer already!

WOW!! That was quick! Heard Hawk 1 over South Fayetteville, and within ten minutes, John Munford had the story!! Good work Sheriff's Department, and John Munford. Now, let's hope that the justice systems brings ........ justice to meet the crime!!

Ballard: start sending a message and stop being a plea bargain wonder. The fact that these burglars were ever apprehended is amazing. Our law enforcement is strong. No get a message out from the the courtroom--- pick another county to break in to homes.

I had to have a lawyer once in my life, it was Scott Ballard I hired. Well after seeing how slow he was to seek justice, I fired him. In return, he send me a letter teling me hw the wheels of justice turn slowly, etc etc. Easy for his to say, given his wasn't trying to get his named cleared after seeing the system being abused against an innocent person. Of course it was fault ( according to his letter ), because I was the type of person that looked for results instead of seeing paperwork shuffled around like deck chairs on the Titanic.

Mr.Ballard often seems more interested in his conviction rate than sending a clear message that crime will be tolerated in this country.. Sometimes I think Mr. Ballard is worried about his image that doing the right thing.Or pushing for results when he was in private for his clients case..
