Sick and tired of bloated tax bills

I am mad; I am mad as hell!

Every year since I bought this property in 2001, my tax assessment has increased, and every year I appeal the assessment. I am sick and tired of this.

As House Speaker Pro Tem Mark Burkhalter said before this year’s Georgia House,”Constituents are going to be taxed out of their homes.” House Majority Leader Jerry Keen said, “Property tax rolls continue to rise. Show me the fairness: show me the justice in that.”

If I had not appealed my assessment every year for the last eight years, by now your assessment on my property would exceed $300,000 on a home I originally paid $185,000 for. Show me the fairness in that.

Instead of increasing property values every year for tax purposes, I suggest you hire an independent appraiser to do a fair market value. If you won’t, I will.

Make no mistake. I will appeal this to the state Superior Court if necessary. Also, I intend to send a copy of this letter to The Citizen in hopes that they will publish it and encourage every property owner in the county to appeal their assessments.

My house didn't drop a dime , yet all the local, state, and national statistics show an average 12-15% decline per year over the last 3 years. I know. I was an RE investor. I lost one house that was rented and paid every expense but the property tax. I will join your appeal.
