By: John Munford
Police have now identified two Senoia men charged with robbing the United Community Bank on Ga. Highway 74 north after 2 p.m. Friday. Calvin Obie Boynton, 45, and Scott Neal Boynton, 22, were arrested by officers shortly after the incident at the intersection of Ga. Highway 54 and Huddleston Road, thanks to a motorist who followed them from the bank and called 911, police said. The 12 gauge sawed-off shotgun that was used in the bank robbery was found in the suspects’ car, police said. Also found in the car were a bag of money and camouflage clothing that was worn by one of the suspects during the incident, police said. Police believe Calvin Boynton entered the bank with the weapon wearing a camouflage jacket, cap and what appeared to be a black mask covering the majority of his face. He then showed the shotgun to a teller and demanded money. Both suspects remain in the Fayette County Jail Monday afternoon, police said. Calvin Obie Boynton is charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, making terroristic threats and possession of an illegal firearm while Scott Neal Boynton is charged with armed robbery, police said. It is not known at this time whether the two men are related or not, police said. login to post comments |
