Peachtree City police are looking for a hit-and-run driver who struck down a woman pedestrian who was crossing four-lane Ga. Highway 74 Wednesday night.

“The pedestrian was transported by helicopter to Grady Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. No further update on the victim’s condition is available at this time,” a police statement said.

The woman was walking from Taco Mac restaurant toward the Hampton Inn Hotel at Hwy. 74 and Marketplace connector about 10 p.m. Wednesday when she was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound on Hwy. 74, police said.

“Witnesses stated that a middle-age to older white male driving a beige-in-color four-door sedan fled the scene after hitting the victim,” police said.

“Another witness stated that the vehicle involved was possibly an SUV or a pickup truck. Damage to the offending vehicle is expected to include damage to the front driver’s side area and missing glass from the driver’s side-view mirror,” police said.

Anyone with information about this hit-and-run should contact the Community Response Team at 770-487-8866, via email at traffic@peachtree-city.org, or the Crime and Narcotics Information Hotline, 770-487-6010. You may remain anonymous, police said.

Actually 2 lessons. 1) Use a crosswalk 2) Don't drink and jaywalk.

My friends and I will cross the street at that same location to go to Taco Mac. We live on the other side of Best Buy. Since the bridge is not complete we take our golf cart and park them at the hotel or bank and run across the street. Depending on where she lived maybe she has to do the same thing we do???? Hopefully she is ok...

Would that be the infamous "railroad" bridge? Are there crosswalks at SR 74 and SR 54 intersection?

The driver fled because they were

A. Young kid,

B. Under the Influence.

C. Illegal , Driving Without a License.

Whomever did this act, is a coward not to stay at the scene.

was accurate, the guy was older which to me says he was probably intoxicated and didn't want to deal with that. I've no doubt he'll eventually get caught.

Perhaps I could see fear or whatever making one drive away initially; but once you had time to think about it how can you live with yourself? I do hope this sleezeoid turns himself in. And hope the lady will be OK, and fully recover.
