PTC man says he never hurt or raped his wifeWed, 04/29/2009 - 3:26pm

A Peachtree City man vehemently denied accusations that he ever punched, kicked and assaulted his wife with drumsticks. Michael William Ellicott, on trial for a slate of criminal charges related to physical and sexual assaults on his wife, also denied ever raping his wife. Shown graphic images of deep bruises on various parts of Pamela Ellicott’s body, Michael Ellicott resolutely said that he did not cause any of them. Michael Ellicott not only denied attacking his wife in the couple’s soundproof home theater room in their basement, but he accused her of striking herself with the drumsticks for about 30 seconds. Mr. Ellicott said his wife had a mental disorder that caused her to injure herself at times. Ellicott admitted to “unintentionally” knocking down his wife as he grabbed her to get the drumsticks away from her. Responding to a direct question about a deviant sexual activity he is accused of forcing his wife to commit, Mr. Ellicott broke down into tears for a few seconds. “I can’t believe I’m even accused of that,” he stammered out in a high-pitched voice. Michael Ellicott also denied ever raping his wife or anyone else. Michael Ellicott was arrested Jan. 20 by Peachtree City Police after Pamela Ellicott ran to a neighbor's house after what she said was the latest in several physical assaults on her that day. He is on trial for five counts of aggravated assault (family violence), six counts of aggravated battery (family violence), two counts of aggravated sodomy, one count of rape and one count of false imprisonment. Ellicott said several days before his arrest he had noticed red marks on his wife and encouraged her to see a psychiatrist who had previously helped her on the self-abuse matter. A co-worker at Delta Airlines whom Michael Ellicott admitted to having an affair with testified that in December 2007 he had told her about Pamela Ellicott’s self-abuse problem. Pamela Ellicott told a different story on the stand yesterday, alleging that her husband kicked and punched her in several places all over her body while the couple was in the home’s soundproof home theater room. Michael Ellicott admitted that he hoped to divorce his wife but prosecutor Warren Sellers reminded him that in his answer to Pamela Ellicott’s divorce suit he is asking for the marriage to remain intact. “I still do love Pam. I understand the situation but I’m not happy with it,” Michael Ellicott said. “I don’t want to go to jail for 400 years sir. I thought she would come to her senses.” Mr. Ellicott said he had told her about the two extramarital affairs he had. He also said that she had admitted to having an extramarital affair back in 1991. Tuesday afternoon Pamela Ellicott spoke of several occasions on which her husband raped her and forced her to participate in deviant sexual activity. She also said he was responsible for breaking both her wrists, one of which she recalled hearing crack as she deflected a blow he intended for her head during one assault. Pamela Ellicott also said she still suffered from an injury to her buttocks which required surgery and makes it painful to walk. Although the physical assaults from her husband began about a year and a half before the Jan. 20 incident, Mrs. Ellicott said she stayed with her husband and had not planned to divorce him because she still loved him. “It wasn’t until the last year that I stayed out of fear,” Mrs. Ellicott said Tuesday. The trial is expected to conclude tomorrow morning. login to post comments |
