A 2-year-old girl found at the bottom of an east Fayette pool Thursday afternoon died from her injuries, police said.

The girl was initially reported missing in a 911 call, and Fayette County sheriff’s deputies arrived at the home at 240 Felton Drive to begin a search. The girl was found in just a few minutes and was removed from the pool.

Deputies then began CPR on the victim while waiting for the first medical crew to arrive.

After county medical crews treated the victim, she was transported to Piedmont Fayette Hospital.

Fayetteville police and sheriff’s deputies blocked intersections on Ga. Highway 54 to help the ambulance get to the hospital quickly.

I'm 15 and I've seen this little girl grow up. She was my best friends niece and therefore also mine. She is having her funeral on Monday April 27 and her viewing is tomorrow. She was the most beautiful little girl and she was going to be so smart and pretty. No one can stop crying yet. She was already so smart and got past 3 locked doors out to the pool..I love her and i miss her.

This happened two doors up from my home in Morrow back in the Mid 70's. A 3 year old at the time. So sad...I still haven't forgotten it, it was the little brother of a friend of mine.

Prayers go out to the Family and all involved.

I actually got sick listening to this transpire on the radio yesterday. Knowing how the mother felt not knowing where her child was and then listening to the Deputy call out for rescue, after finding her in the pool. As a parent that has lost a child, now is not a time to second guess "what if's". A child has been lost and the life of the whole family has been changed FOREVER! Lets hope that all rally around this family and give them the support they will need! The county did a great job responding to this call and I know first hand that they are all heart broken knowing the outcome.
Through all that myself and my family went through when my son died, one thing got me through the hard times.......Dr.Sams sat me down and shared things that had happened to him through his years and told me "You never get over it...You just get through it".
God speed to this little girl and to her family.

I want to thank you for posting that. I have lost all of my angels to pregnancy loss. I wish so many would try to understand your sentiment, which rings so true. You don't get over it, you get through it with Gods grace. I work at the hospital and just now realize after reading this that the emergency we had Thursday in the ER was this tragedy. Ironically, the husband of a friend on my facebook page works with the little girls father. So many are touched by tragedy, so let's hope that many will lift this family up in prayer and help them through this difficult time.
I've worked with support groups that help to educate others on how to support grieving parents. Recognizing that the parents will get through it, not over it is important to the grieving process. I just ask God that their pain will ease soon and memories of their daughter's smiling face will flood their hearts.

Sad, my prayers are with the little girl. She will never get to experience the oy og life. God has her now.

I am sad for the parents, it will take time for the family to come to grip with this sad event..

So many questions I'd love to ask, like this the pool protected by a fence and locked gate? As a pool owner, I had had my pool protected from day one, even when I didn't have any kids in my home at the time. I was worried about others using the pool while I wasn't home, and just like this something happening or someone getting hurt.

In the end, a little life is lost, thats so sad.

What a tragedy, this is so sad. May God be with all of those involved from the first responders to parents and hospital staff. Our prayers and thoughts are with the entire family. The grandmother responsible for watching this little child will never be the same. Please pray for the grandmother along with this entire family.

I pray this newest little angel can help God pour out the rain and paint the clouds forever and ever. Amen.

Each and every person involved in this will be forever affected. My prayers are with yours that healing will come. I have a friend in Oklahoma this happened to. It's something that you never get past. You just learn to live with the pain. May God bless this entire family.

Does anyone know if it was their own pool? or an update on condition of child? I can't even imagine their grief.

Our thoughts and prayers are with your family. May the young one rest in peace.
