Machine, truck found in wooded area near Hwys. 54/74.

The ATM machine stolen from Regions Bank in Peachtree City early Monday morning has been recovered, police said.

The thieves were able to gain access to the interior of the machine and were able to get a large sum of money, police said.

The ATM and the truck used to steal it were found Wednesday in a heavily wooded area near Ga. Highway 74 just north of Ga. Highway 54, police said. Both were spotted Wednesday during an aerial search by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office’s helicopter and two detectives, police said.

Detectives are processing the ATM and truck for evidence related to the incident, in which a front end loader was stolen and driven up Ga. Highway 74 north to the Regions Bank on north Kedron Drive.

The front end loader was used to rip the ATM out of the ground around 4 a.m., police said.

Since the ATM was found near the heart of the city, are we going to see any more blogger comments about key strategic points or key roads leading in or out of the city?

Good luck to the detectives. Hope you catch these guys.
