West Fayetteville Bypass...To The Man on Highway 54To the man on Highway 54, you are the one whose head is in the sand. Give us some good reasons for tearing up the Northwestern part of the county miles away from Highway 54 when the traffic is not there. Give us some traffic figures to justify how on earth this project can be worth its huge price tag. I'll agree that Phase I is a short cut for people going to Sandy Creek Road, but who on earth is going to Westbridge Road? No businesses, no tourist attractions, no way to get to I-85...just a nice scenic drive through the county. Have you ever been there? But, for people in favor of trying to create more taxes, denser development or joy riding in an area where there is no traffic, the Bypass is their cup of tea. If you are still convinced that Fayette County needs the Bypass, try and get the justification for it from the Commissioners. All they have is a recommendation by the Atlanta Regional Commission. Go with the ARC, and next thing is Marta coming in? I hear comments from folks who think Marta hurt Clayton County during the 1996 Olympics. BTW, check out the Wetlands in the Northwestern part of the county. Much of it is in a water recharge area, and it doesn't stand a ghost of a chance of passing muster with the Feds as a suitable area for a "limited access road", which is the phrasing created by one of our commissioners. Last, check out the traffic in Fayetteville, yourself. It's not like the Highway 74/54 intersection in PTC. I defy you to show how the West Bypass can make a difference. pips1414's blog | login to post comments |
