West Fayetteville Bypass...To The Man on Highway 54

To the man on Highway 54, you are the one whose head is in the sand. Give us some good reasons for tearing up the Northwestern part of the county miles away from Highway 54 when the traffic is not there. Give us some traffic figures to justify how on earth this project can be worth its huge price tag. I'll agree that Phase I is a short cut for people going to Sandy Creek Road, but who on earth is going to Westbridge Road? No businesses, no tourist attractions, no way to get to I-85...just a nice scenic drive through the county. Have you ever been there?

But, for people in favor of trying to create more taxes, denser development or joy riding in an area where there is no traffic, the Bypass is their cup of tea. If you are still convinced that Fayette County needs the Bypass, try and get the justification for it from the Commissioners. All they have is a recommendation by the Atlanta Regional Commission. Go with the ARC, and next thing is Marta coming in? I hear comments from folks who think Marta hurt Clayton County during the 1996 Olympics.

BTW, check out the Wetlands in the Northwestern part of the county. Much of it is in a water recharge area, and it doesn't stand a ghost of a chance of passing muster with the Feds as a suitable area for a "limited access road", which is the phrasing created by one of our commissioners.

Last, check out the traffic in Fayetteville, yourself. It's not like the Highway 74/54 intersection in PTC. I defy you to show how the West Bypass can make a difference.

This is very typical of county governemnt... Its truly amazing that if i want to build a home in this county, i have to submit my plans before obtaining permit to proceed with so much as putting a shovel in the ground... However the county can just go ahead on as it pleases without getting the approval from the E.P.A, or the D.O.T on the entire project.... Just a small portion of it has been given the go ahead, they are just assuming that since they are all cozy and buddy buddy with the A.R.C. that they can go ahead and POP A CHUBBY,(Have a cigar) for all those lames with their head in the sand out there....And assume that its as good as in the bag, that the rest of the permits will just fall into place.. The E.P.A will have to be out of its mind if it agrees to mitigation of these wetlands and wildlife habitat.. Not to mention has the new Flint Riverkeeper been informed of this matter, this is in the headwaters area of the Flint and i am sure they will want to become involved in this matter, having just been organized to fight, Congressman Westmorelands and others recent proposal to dam the Flint River at Spurill Bluff to create another travesty to our area, and pave the way for the pilfering and rape of our beloved lands.. This is the same dam that Jimmy Carter Scuttled back in the 70s, and if it is allowed to proceed will clear the way for Fayette and surrounding counties to mirror the nightmare that has become the northside. Knowledge is power in this matter folks.. If you do not know, ask somebody, get involved in whats going on around, stay informed, come to the commision meeting and protest this travesty, even if its not on the agenda for that meeting, and if they continue to proceed, next election send em down to the unemployment office.... BLESS.....
