Another Slap In The Face of WFBC

Sandy Creek Road, Tillman Road, and Lee's Mill Road are absolutely nothing like Hwy. 54. They never have been and hopefully they never will be. Unless you have faced the prospect of having your entire home and property condemned to accomodate yet another road, you don't understand. Unless you cleared the land for your house, you don't understand. Un less you drew the plans and physically helped build your home, you can't understand. UNLESS YOU'VE HAD A COUNTY COMMISSIONER BELITTLE YOU WHEN YOU MERELY ASKED A QUESTION AS TO WHAT WOULD HAPPEN TO YOUR HOME AND PROPERTY, YOU CAN'T UNDERSTAND! UNLESS YOU HAVE FOUND YOURSELF IN THE POSITION OF TRYING TO SAVE YOUR GREAT GRANDMOTHER'S BARN THAT IS OVER 125 YEARS OLD, YOU CAN'T UNDERSTAND. AND FINALLY FOR THE LATEST SLAP IN THE FACE, UNLESS YOU HAVE PHYSICALLY BUILT A REGISTERED WILDLIFE HABITAT (WATERFALLS, FOUNTAINS, MANY TYPES AND KINDS OF FEEDING STATIONS, PLANTS TO ACCOMODATE DIFFERENT WILDLIFE) WHICH IS A PROJECT THAT HAS TAKEN OVER 20 YEARS, YOU CAN'T UNDERSTAND. And, now for the ultimate punch in the face... UNLESS YOU ARE THAT PERSON WHO BUILT THAT WILDLIFE HABITAT AND WHEN YOU WENT TO SPEAK TO ONE OF OUR COUNTY EMPLOYEES IN CHARGE OF BUILDING THE WEST FAYETTEVILLE BYPASS THAT EMPLOYEE TOLD YOU THAT THE COUNTY IS GOING TO CONDEMN YOUR HOME AND PROPERTY JUST TO HAVE THEM TURN AROUND DAYS LATER TO SEND YOU A LETTER SAYING THEY HAVE MADE A MISTAKE AND THAT IT WOULD BE TWO OTHER HOUSES IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD THEY WILL CONDEMN, YOU MOST CERTAINLY CANNOT, NEVER WILL UNDERSTAND!

Your "yelling" (ALL CAPS) aside, you do have a point.

I attended a Fayette county commission meeting last year where the 120' right of way was discussed. I was amazed at the condescending and patronizing tone of our commissioners when citizens were asking them to consider a 100' setback, particularly Mssrs. Frady and Horgan. It didn't make economic sense to make a road without a 120' setback.

Of course, that was then....
