The Onion started as a satirical newspaper at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (my alma mater). I guess it has really caught on.

It's hard to pick out a favorite story, but this one cracked me up this morning: Memorial for Future Victims

Then there is the one about the "anonymous hero"--someone who donated more than 200 fresh human kidneys to a local hospital, presumably for transplants.

Then there are is the fundamentalist group that protests the 2nd law of thermodynamics on the grounds that the notion that entropy is on the increase brings a troubling and discouraging message to young and impressionable minds.

Several years ago, The Onion ran a story about the Harry Potter books and Satanism. They included an interview with J.K. Rowling, who said, "Of course the books influence children to worship Satan. That's the whole point!" And a young girl who is interviewed is found conjuring up some demon of darkness and saying that Jesus is "stupid and dumb" after reading the HP books. Gullible church groups got hold of it, and it circulated via emails and church newsletters as proof of the satanic roots of the books.

I guess satire is not for everyone.
