Second defendant acquitted of attempted rape, but guilty of criminal trespassing

Two men were convicted today in connection with the rape of a 19-year-old Peachtree City woman at the Harmony Village apartment complex August 30.

Only one of the men, Ulises Chavez, was convicted of rape and burglary. The jury acquitted the other defendant, Isreal Martinez Ruiz, of criminal attempt to commit rape but convicted him of criminal trespassing instead of the initial burglary charge.

Both men also lived at the apartment complex at the time of the incident, police said. Sentencing has been set for next week.

Tuesday the victim identified Chavez as the man who was having intercourse with her as she woke up in her bedroom after she had passed out after drinking at a nearby party. She also identified Ruiz as another man present in the room who did not touch her but told her that he and Chavez paid a third man to have sex with her.

Ruiz and Chavez both admitted to a Peachtree City police officer that they had indeed paid to have sex with the woman. The victim insisted that she did not give either man permission to have sex with her nor did she give them permission to enter her apartment.

How about that time at the wedding when Jesus turned water into wine? Coffee and tea are also drugs, are you against those too?

Here's another question, what of the man who these guys paid to have sex with her? Is this person being prosecuted in any type of way or did we just forget that he existed as well? Who knows maybe it's the same person who gave her the alcohol in question, seems like an easy sceem to pull off - get her drunk and then sell her off for as much as you can get. This is what happens when our surrounding counties start to runneth over! Fayetteville has become no better than Clayton and Fulton, your hard pressed to even see a car tag that does not say one of these when riding through. Of course now the waste is dumping further down in Fayette county, progress right? It is a complete shame that we have gotten to a point that PTC is no longer safe, it use to be a place people spoke of with pride.

It seems to me that the police should simply divide and park/walk the specific areas in PTC where crime occurs.

I know a PTC cop, and he says that 95% of the crime is committed by 5% of the people. We all know this is true.

Why are the police in areas where they aren't needed? Is it to collect revenue from little things like speeding, running stop signs, etc.?

Let's park cops right where all this crap happens.

teen enough alcohol so that she passed out? What charges is this person facing?

As a white person I feel certain that if I had provided alcohol to a minor at a party in my home I would have been dragged behind a police car to jail. So again what charges will the person face who provided this minor with alcohol?

Have you even investigated it?

Or are you afraid they will pull the race card so you are just letting it go? Why are you so easy on the criminals in crimony village?
For years we have taken a steady stream of their anti-social, differently, specially challenged, multi-cultural, Cabbagetown/Techwood behavior. The olympics are over they need to go back to ATL.

As a taxpayer here I am violated everyday by people who collect welfare and food stamps. I am definitly treated worse because I'm white, oh, and my other crime.....I have a job.

The person who provided this underage minor with enough alcohol so that she blacked out should be brought to justice. Do the right thing even if the local naacp whines and snivels and tries to pull the race card.

I know it doesn't seem like it, but I actually do try to hold back.

I think she is lucky to be alive. It sounds like she could have died from alcohol poisoning. That is the danger when "adults" give alcohol to teens who don't know when to stop. The good thing is she didn't have to get on the road and drive to get home. She made it through this situation alive, that is a good thing. It could have ended much worse.

I just feel like my picture would have been all over the news if I had done something like this, and rightly so. It just seems like a double standard.

It's going to be another beautiful day, I hope you can duck out early and enjoy it.

For years A.T.L. has torn down its housing projects, under the guise of redevelopement, and the former Olympics. Giveing its dregs of society a free bus ticket out of town or a taxpayer subsidized rent voucher to take up residence elsewhere as long as it was outside the city, and to become other communitys problems. All while they boast about homelessness being down, as well as crime rate. Well i guess so since yall shipped em out.. Now our own county commision is standing by to entice even more of these types of individuals to our community by giving them federal downpayment assistance to purchase foreclosures in our community. Excellent, come on down the price is right.......PEACE...

These people need to take their specially different problems back home. Obviously putting them in a good safe clean environment was lost on them. The antisocial behavior has not improved at all.

Sadly when you are too close to ghetto cities like ATL some of the specially different, antisocial behavior problems are destined to infect the nice communities close by.

Boo hoo....our safe bubble of Fayette County has been infiltrated by the "ghetto trash" of the ATL. Cry me a friggin river. This is going on all over the World, crime is up and nobody is safe in their own back yards anymore. This is just another sign that this World & everything in it is coming to an end. We have to be more alert of our surroundings and stop pointing the finger at others, it won't change anything. First let me state that I am in no way shape or form excusing those who come to Fayette or any area for that matter to do dirt. I believe these ones should be punished; but I would like also to point out to you Sky that the ratio of the ones that MOVE to Fayette from housing projects that are on some kind of public assistance who do not commit crime by far out number the ones that do break the law. The reason why you don't know about it is because good behavior does not make the news. Why would the media report on the single mother with three kids who obeys the law and is an upstanding citizen or the unemployed couple who just can't make ends meet but do the best they can? The reason is because that's what we are supposed to do, and as for you being singled out and oppressed because you are a white person with a job I find that completely comical. Black, White, Latin whoever if you are supplying alcohol to a minor you deserve to go to jail. There are far more Blacks in the Fayette County jail than White people, sad but true. I don't think the FCPD is locking up anybody because of their race; they are being locked up because they broke the law. It’s that simple.

Why do people always talk so negativley about "the bubble". I like the bubble. Growing up here my family never locked any of the doors to our house or cars. Shouldn't we want to live like that. In a place where we fell safe and can trust our nieghbors.

A crime was committed, or as the person above pointed out really 2 crimes were committed and they are getting a free pass.

Unlike the woman 2 or 3 yrs ago in Smokerise who was arrested (rightly so) for providing minors with alcohol, these people are getting a free pass. At least it looks that way. Maybe the investigation is not finished.
