Trailers multiply, as do illegal students

It seems the school board is suddenly worried about bad press. There should be bad press considering the lax way they have handled the residency requirements for students in our schools.

If someone took $7,000 worth of equipment, they would be arrested. So why don’t they care about $7,000 per student per year being stolen from our taxpayers?

It is time we hired (or elected) school board members with guts. They certainly are not being good stewards of public funds while they are allowing this situation to reach gigantic numbers. It is out of control.

At a social event recently I had occasion to talk to some teachers that were there. They all agreed that there are many, many students that attend our schools who live in other counties. Some have even gone so far as to turn them in to administrators, but nothing was done.

Heads should roll over this. It is grand theft.

Here we are building more schools and housing students in trailers while students who do not live in this county continue to steal our services.

What will it take to get some action from the school board?

Regardless of how you try and slice it, illegal out of county students in the Fayette school system is equivalent to fraud. What's worse is our school board thinks it's once a year litmus test to check the validity of these students is sound, thus there is no problem. Ha! ...perhaps in their world.

Talk about turning a blind eye!

Makes me wonder if the FCBOE is profiting off of inflated enrollment figures much like the Boy Scouts of America scandal that broke last year.

Kick-backs from the government perhaps? .... Ahh, but ain't that America.

Surely, there is no profit motive here for FCBOE, it is simply laziness - the condition that occurs sometimes in government workers combined with the fear of a potential lawsuit - you know, the lawsuit where the plantiff screams "Discrimination!!!!!"

Although your idea has merit - more Federal $$$$ based upon the number of students. They may actually take in more than they lose. Let's look into that. Munford? Wake up and do it!
