PTC police report entering autos on southside

By: The Citizen

The Peachtree City Police Department is again warning residents to avoid leaving valuables in their vehicles, which can make them a target for thieves.

This time it’s in the wake of increased entering auto cases on southside neighborhoods over the past several weeks, particularly in the Rockspray, Battery Way, The Retreat and several other subdivisions near Braelinn Road, police said.

The thefts are believed to happen during the late evening or early morning hours, police said. Items taken have included GPS systems, laptop computers, purses and other valuables frequently left inside cars, police said.

Citizens are asked to hide valuables and packages from plain view and also be on the lookout for persons who might be monitoring parking lots, loitering or acting in a suspicious manner.

Police are calling this crime prevention program “Stop Crime Ahead of Time.”

In recent months thieves have targeted not just vehicles parked at homes but also those in business areas including gyms.

If my alarm goes off at 2AM, I am sure they are going to be a threat with the pocket knife in my cupholder. They will be dealt with accordingly. (wink)

PS: a 30 round glock mag. of Georgia Arms finest hollow points on the dash is usually a good deterent to move on to the next victim.

I've been shooting their +P .45 HP's and 30.06 ammo for years.

GREAT ammo at a GREAT price.

"Citizens are being asked to hide their stuff." Pathetic.... Lets get out there and be seen folks, if we do not Question those that look like they do not belong, if we do not pay attention or care about what is going on around us, at all times. Then all one has to do is take a trip up to Old National Hwy, Or 1941 Jonesboro, and see what our future will look like, for these two areas were once what we now call Fayette County. While im not talking about coming out guns blazing like Charles Bronson in the Death Wish movies, even though that may be what is nessasary.... You see somthing that looks out of place then call it in.... Strange car keep riding by your house... Man wandering around the parking lot. Come outside and put eyes on em, Drive by the man loitering real slow, if the hoods know we are watching then they will ease on down the road or go back where they came from. But if we let them roam freely, unchallenged, then they will feel at home and call all their homies to come on down... Then before you know it everytime you go to the gas station, you hear "Hey man got some change." or "Yo what you need man." This is your wake up call folks.....PEACE...

Get a carry permit, and if someone were to enter the extension of your home with ill intent.... Stimulate the economy, and let there be some smoke in the city... Then call 911 and advise them to inbound the Coroner....PEACE...

Be gracious, and let the perp have his choice of filling...45ACP, 5.56 or 12ga 00 buck. I would say that I might just shoot to wound, but that would most likely leave me with the perp suing me in a civil case. Stop 'em, pop 'em and drop 'em.

or my car itself for that matter. Call me crazy if you want. IF my Family's safety or mine was involved, that's another story.

I carry several depending on the day. But think about this for a second. Are you really willing to kill someone over an Ipod and $.70 in your cup holder?

Are you willing to kill a child over your sunglasses? 'Cause I'll bet you a steak dinner its someones precious little darling (who mama says never does anything wrong) just out for a thrill and some dope money.

Id rather tan their tail and have mommy and daddy come get them from the pokie.

Now carjack me... Diff'rent story. The last thing that will go through someones mind would be a hollow point....

If you are found here tonight... You will be found here tomorrow... Interpet it however you like, if it makes you feel any better... Gun control means using both hands, and being able to place your rounds based on the situation, no one said anything about smoking the kids.. However my question to you is as follows.. Its 3am your front door is suddenly kicked in by two assailiants. One Immediately starts to loot the place, the other starts to clear the premisis, and is headed straight towards the bedroom in which you occupy, What would you do??? Lets make it multiple choice shall we???

1. CALL OUT "Who is it???

2. Ask them how old they are???

3. Pop em and drop em??

Good Luck and GOD BLESS....

Ill take answer D Alex. Call out, "which barrel do you want"????

Seriously, I really hope your just playing because your on the intro-net.

And I hope you got a light on that gun of yours and the sense to use it properly; How are you going to feel if you pop your kid coming home late (or your brother stopping in late unannounced from out of town... all these and have happened), because you just started sprayin and prayin instead of using your head

To be more in depth since your taking the Ignorance category. You have every the right to shoot someone who kicks in your door because you have a reason to believe that they are there to hurt you.

But you better have the sense to identify your target and not just blast away in the dark.

Submitted by mysteryman on Wed, 03/11/2009 - 11:44pm.

And my brother is not going to kick the door in... Ill take ignorance for 200 Alex...PEACE

Lets go back to the topic, your vehicle. Kill someone for taking your GPS, and the family of the dirtbag will own your GPS and your flat screen and your car and your house...

You might not be charged with a crime by the police but bet your sweet fanny your going to civil court. (yes, im very well aware the law says your immune, but ill get to that one in a minute) And if a lawyer finds out the garbage your spouting on here, that your all for shooting first, kiss everything you own good bye. All Over what? Things that can be replaced by insurance?

Read this:
http://www.legis.state.ga.us/legis/
2005_06/versions/sb396_AP_10.htm

then read this:
http://www.lexis-nexis.com/
hottopics/gacode/default.asp

§ 16-3-24. Use of force in defense of property other than a habitation
(a) A person is justified in threatening or using force against another when and to the extent that he REASONABLY BELIEVES that such threat or force is NECESSARY to prevent or terminate such other's trespass on or other tortious or criminal interference with real property other than a habitation or personal property:
(1) Lawfully in his possession;
(2) Lawfully in the possession of a member of his immediate family; or
(3) Belonging to a person whose property he has a legal duty to protect.

Pay attention to the Capitalized words. Can you shoot someone for going in your car? Sure, but you'd better justify (TO A JURY) why you think it was Necessary and Reasonable to put two rounds in Jr's head instead of yelling "Get out of here".

Before you load your gun and start carrying it around guys, you better do like Insayn here and do your homework. 10 to 20 minutes of reading boring code is well worth avoiding 5 to 10 years for murder.

The code in Georgia is much better for those of us who pack than it was two years ago thanks to organizations like Georgia Carry. The code allows for very specific situations when the use of deadly force is authorized and after you pull the trigger it's too late to check the law.

Believe me that none of you want to count on Scott Ballard failing to do his job the day you come into court after some of the things that have been said about him on this forum.

Submitted by Insayn on Thu, 03/12/2009 - 10:26pm.

GA Carry is a good organization.

Here's a good site that puts the codes into plain English and are easier to understand then going through the GA Codes and Gen Assembly Bills.

http://www.georgiapacking.org/law.php

Its up to everyone who owns a gun to be responsible with it, know the laws and be proficient with it. That includes knowing what your aiming at. Knowing your backdrop. And using good judgment. And remember Gun Control means hitting what your aiming at it.

I have a key to my parents house.

Early in my marriage, my husband and I got into some pretty nasty drag out fights. Late one night, I was fed up with him and got it into my head that I was going to leave him. I jumped into my car with my daughter, who was an infant at the time, and drove to Hampton to mom and dad's house. Half way there, I realized that it was 3 a.m. and my parents have an arsenal.

Not wanting to risk getting accidentally shot by my dad, I turned the car around and got a room at the hotel across from the courthouse in Fayetteville. It ran me about $70, but was well worth being safe. I went to my parents house the next morning and spent about a week there before going home.

The moral to the story is that those who know you are armed should make the proper choices to avoid accidents. And those that don't know you, don't need to be going into your house at 3 a.m..

Peace to you too.

Submitted by mysteryman on Thu, 03/12/2009 - 8:14pm.

Too much to ask of some on this blog though, of course i would not shoot a kid, unless the kid was armed, or made a move after being hailed to cease and desist. Of course one would not just start blazing away in the dark. However if someone comes to steal my stuff, or rob me point blank, they had better come correct, for i work to hard for what little i have, and yes as Insayn says, even though a shooting may be justifed, it still leaves you open to being defendant to a civil suit, cause little Pistol Starter was just playing gangsta and would not hurt anyone acording to Moms... Pop em and drop em, anything less and you are saying its ok to steal my stuff....PEACE..

It does seem to me that anyone who is against an individuals right to bear arms seems to suppose that those individuals are trigger happy and lack proper judgment. They don't understand that most wish to never have to use their weapon and most assuredly would never kill someone over an ipod. Good grief!

If you're a hot head - then, by all means don't carry a weapon. The rest of us should not be ostracized for embracing the civil right to protect oneself and having sense enough to be responsible about it.

For now, I am exercising my right not to have a fire arm in my home. Maybe when my 6 year old son grows up a little and stops taking apart everything in my house (boys!!!) then I'll consider having a gun on my property.

when you wished you were in New Jersey?

The best part of the NJ turnpike is when you reach the sign that says, "Welcome to New York".

What makes me happy is when I seen that sign on the Jersey Turnpike with the airplane emblem on it.

I almost didn't make it out today because of a "mechanical". The flight was 3 hours late. Maintenance took care of the problem and everyone was able to re-board.

I was even given a seat in first class. I declined that seat and instead gave it to a person in uniform. God bless them all.

I was told many years ago to always have an old knife or screwdriver wrapped in an old kitchen towel or tee shirt for just such an occasion. The reason for the towel is not to keep it clean but to keep all traces of yourself OFF OF IT. That means no prints, sweat, lint and/or blood, anything that can be traced back to you.

You want to make especially sure that it doesn’t even come close to anything you may already own. It must be bigger, smaller, different color or style than anything in your house or where you work.

Mine are a couple of old gnarly, dented and scratched-up Buck 110’s that I used in the construction business eons ago. I keep one wrapped up in an old dirty washcloth in my garage and the other in a rag in my glove box. I haven’t touched either in years. I just keep them there for the day I might need one of them.

If you don’t already have one, go to the store and buy a new one and then trade it to one of your neighbors’ illegal landscapers for his old one. DON’T TRADE WITH YOUR landscaper; use your neighbors or better still just stop when you see a crew working somewhere else. Remember, the older/dirtier the better. You can also pilfer one from a restaurant if need be, just leave a bigger tip if you do.

As has been stated earlier, you ARE going to have to prove to a jury that you thought your life was in eminent danger regardless of what the police report says.

Above all, DON'T DO ANYTHING STUPID! If it's not you, your wife/husband, child or some innocent other person DON'T SHOOT! Your GPS or iPod just isn't worth it.

One other thing, Christmas in prison sucks.

The police say to hide the valuables.

Great!

What the police SHOULD say is, "Your car is your property. If you find someone illegally entering your automobile to steal your property, please pick up the nearest branch, baseball bat or piece of rebar and beat the helll out of them. This will not only deter criminal acts, but save tax dollars."

Am I right?

I agree...if I see an intruder rummaging through my car, I would run up to him and beat his ass! A car is definitely an extension of your property and becomes my octagon ring if an intruder is present. Anyone going through it illegally is fully aware of the consequences involved. A beat-down is one of them. beatdown
