Obama Democrats start class war to socialize U.S., redistribute wealthTue, 03/10/2009 - 3:39pm
By: Letters to the ...
After a month and a half of Obama, I can’t stand it anymore. I have to vent before I explode. Our republic is not long for this world for several very clear reasons. First of all, there are two types of people in the world (by people, I mean able-bodied adults). They are not the whites and blacks, the Christians and Muslims, or cat people or dog people. The two types of people are those who produce more than they consume and those who consume more than they produce. Those who produce more than they consume are self-reliant, motivated, and hard-working. They are the horses who pull the wagon. They are net savers and investors. They produce the capital to make capitalism work. The only problem is that every year there are fewer and fewer of them. They pull the wagon in spite of the tyrannical confiscation of the fruits of their labor by all levels of government. Without them we would starve in the gutter (except there would not be a gutter without these people to build it). The second group are like ticks on a dog; they rely to varying degrees on the productive people to survive. In generations past this was a very small group made up of orphans, the handicapped, and the mentally ill. People cared for their own children and elderly. Today, at least half the population gets a subsidy from the government. This subsidy is of course confiscated from the productive people in society. Whether it is Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, crop supports, welfare, earned income tax credits, or earmarks for bridges to nowhere, it is all the same. They are taking from one to give to another. Even Thomas Jefferson said that government should not separate money from the hand that earned it. FDR and LBJ would both be disgusted by the end result of their socialist programs. The welfare state has not improved the lives of people; quite the contrary. The poor (of all races) are more likely to be out of work, on drugs, in gangs, and birthing bastard children. They are less likely to apply themselves in school, save for a rainy day, or attempt to better their job skills. Seventy years of socialism has not broken the cycle of poverty, and it never will. These people have become complacent with their subsidies. They view them as a constitutional right instead of a welcome hand up. The dog still has ticks; they are just a whole lot larger and more numerous. Socialism just plain cannot work in the long run. It is human nature to sit on your butt when someone else is providing for you. In the short term, idealistic zeal may carry socialism. But in the end it will take Stalinism to flog the work out of the populace without the profit motive. In capitalistic societies, people work to better themselves with their own industry. In socialistic societies people only work hard because they are scared the secret police will arrest them if they don’t. If we keep incrementally moving toward socialism, we will lose our freedom. Freedom and true liberty can only exist in a society of self-reliant people. In a society based on the constitution, property rights, and contract law, it should not be possible for the government to “redistribute wealth.” This is tyranny; the Constitution has been set aside and construed to allow the abomination that has become the U.S. Government. Why are we, the productive in society, so complacent? Our forefathers fought a revolution over minor taxes and colonial government interference. Eighty years later they fought a civil war over states’ rights to self-determination. We are being gradually enslaved on the government plantation, and we don’t care enough to do something about it. We need a new political party. The Democrats are either pure socialists or control freaks who want to build up unlimited power. The Republicans are pathetic. They are either Democrat-Lite, religious zealots, or special interest lobbyists. And, yes, some of them are control freaks, too. None of them are standing up for the original meaning of the Constitution, property rights, small government, and freedom to live as you like. The libertarians are the closest we come to a party for the self-reliant and the free. One last thing, we are not a democracy. The United States is a constitutional republic. Our forefathers distrusted democracy for a very good reason. In a democracy, the majority rule, period. They can oppress a minority or take an individual’s life and property at a whim. In a constitutional republic you are protected from the tyranny of the majority. You are free to work hard to better your station without having it arbitrarily confiscated. Obama and his party are starting a class war. They will take everything you have, including what’s left of your freedom, if you let them. Fight back. You can either run away (emigrate), revolt economically and organize politically, or take the abuse. I am glad I got that off my chest. I feel much better now.
