Stimulus Loophole Gives 300,000 Jobs to Illegals

"An estimated 300,000 construction jobs paid for by the stimulus plan will go to illegal workers after leading Democrats removed a provision requiring verification of citizenship"

More "change that we can believe in"!

The Obama administration is using our tax dollars to buy the hispanic vote.

Should the President move forward with E-Verify?

When Fred posts stuff from NewsMax you can usually assume its crap. They just make stuff up for the gullible. Anything they write has to be checked (and that doesn't mean being verified by UFO Today).

E-Verify is in the bill, extended until September by when a comprehensive immigration bill is supposed to be considered.

Here's the Heritage Foundation confirming E-Verify is in the bill:

E-Verify Lives Another Day

"There has been much confusion regarding whether the Department of Homeland Security could continue operating E-Verify to September 30, 2009 or would have had to shut it down yesterday. While DHS felt that they could extend E-Verify until September the different end dates for the program in the FY 2009 appropriations bill left many people in doubt."

As is typical with government, the bill was so convoluted and hard to understand that it was difficult to read that e-verify was only extended until September.

Why only extend it until September when the "comprehensive" (amnesty) immigration bill is written? Could it be that the dems are planning to allow millions of illegals to vote when they write the comprehensive bill, and they don't want any previous ruling to supercede it?

I do look outside for mainline news reports or information rather than the frindge stuff in order to validate. Several of what I call "legitment" news services reported differently then the Heritage Foundation. Thanks for the link.

I was referring to Fred not you. Sorry I wasn't clear. I didn't take it as you verifying the story just as you asking a legitimate question as to whether Obama et. al. should support E-Verify. We may disagree on politics but I consider your opinions valid enough so that if I try to refute you I feel like I better do my homework and marshal my arguments.

Unlike some people here(and I won't mention Fre*'s name), whom it is safe to assume is wrong until proven differently (which I don't believe has yet happened).

I do consider myself a "light weight" when it comes to political debate. I thought I had a good understanding on all things political, that is until about a couple of years ago when I joined "The C". Smiling

Jeff,

The article had it's facts wrong, not me.

You and David's Mom appear to have some sort of wierd obsession with anything that I post. You've taken the messages that I post regarding your savior Obama and made it personal toward me.

I get it though- you're just following the democrat Carville template to smear the messenger in order to distract the sheeple from the real problem, which is having such inept people like Pelosi, Reid, and Obama (in that order) running the country.

Its just that you would have never posted the article except it furthers your ongoing effort to smear Obama with whatever nonsense gets printed in that loony stuff you read. It didn't matter if it was correct just that it was anti-Obama. Now that you were called on it, it is now the article that was wrong not you. Okay. That's why we keep telling you over and over not to rely on NewsMax.

Carville's great!

BTW: If you were really paying attention you'd see that Obama and Reid are playing Pelosi and she's not at all happy about it.

is actually redundant considering the other laws regarding the hiring of illegal immigrants that are already in place, in addition to the "no cost to you" fever pitch jealousy factor of other workers and companies turning each other in . Conservatives need to quit giving themselves so many wedgies.

There are other ways to weed them out. Take the case of Elvira Arellano. She was caught, for the second time, through the post 911 security check that was required for all individuals that worked on commercial aircraft - she was employed as a cabin cleaner at ORD. The idea is to prevent future terrorist actions. One of the elements used to verify and validate an individual is a social security check - which is what tripped her up as she was using a counterfeit SSN. Just like like the E-Verify system will do. The funny thing is, we didn't hear nor do we hear any up roar about this ongoing security check.

so very hard to prove citizenship, is it any different then proving you're 15 to get a drivers license, showing my drivers license every time I cash my paycheck, or buy an adult beverage? I do those things a lot more then they will be asked to prove their citizenship, so whats the problem?

300,000 here, 300,000 there - pretty soon you have a lot of Democrat voters (illegal, but still Democrats, so that's ok). Nancy and Harry will stay in power a couple more years. The adults won't be able to take over until 2012, which is probably too late for the country.

I really wish the Republican Party would grow a pair and start focusing on stuff like this. Real Americans are mostly conservative and sensible, but they have no faith in the Republican Party because of what they do (spend) and don't do (stand up for conservative principals) in Washington. What a bunch of wimps. They almost make the Dems look manly.

The Dems get away with this stuff and almost as bad - manufacturing votes for Al Franken in Minnesota. That clown (yes he really is a real clown) is going to be a U.S. Senator! What a joke. The country really is going down the tubes.

No its not George Bush's fault, jeffc, although the Republican malaise seemed to start while he was their leader.

I disagree.

Perhaps if the wingnuts would join us in the world of reality instead of passing conspiracy theories around, scaring each other like children walking past a graveyard, they would be more credible.

It took me about five seconds to debunk the bogus E-Verify story with a report from the Heritage Foundation.

Ah, the manufactured vote canard about Franken. Coleman has raised millions and millions from Republicans to challenge the election in the state Supreme Court after losing ruling after ruling before the election commission canvassing board. Both organizations basically run by former Republicans.

Here's what the American Enterprise Institute: said about the affair: “The five-member Canvassing Board, which includes two Republican justices from the Minnesota Supreme Court, worked in remarkable harmony and in complete transparency, with nearly all of its decisions unanimous. The secretary of state was rightly praised by his colleagues and nearly all observers in Minnesota.”

If you have any evidence beyond wishful thinking that the Democrats have “manufacturing votes for Al Franken” I'm sure Coleman would love to hear it.

Unfortunately, when it gets down to courts and laws, facts come into play which puts y'all at a disadvantage.

Oh, just give them some time, they will spin this and explain how it's a right wing conspiracy. You know, just more proof of how Republicans are trying to derail Obama. You know it can't be that the Democrats are like a kid in a candy store, knowing they can have whatever they want.

This is really just more proof of how out of control Congress is....and people...don't kid yourselves.....it's only going to get......WORSE.
