Take a Police Car Home!

I am not understanding all this chatter about Peachtree City Policemen being allowed to take a car home when their shift is over.

Most of us in this world work at our job one third of the time and are off two-thirds of the time. I don't think over a few months period that Police Officers are much different than most.

Actually counting vacations, sick time, training etc., it is even less than one-third except for a little overtime work.

The devil is always in the details of such things.
Just a few questions:
If an officer works 12 hour shifts for three days one week and 12 hour shifts for four days the next week---averaging about forty-two hours per week, does he keep the car at home for the four days one week and three the next?

If not, why not? How is it done if he is "allowed" to take the car home?

Does he leave the car at the station while on two weeks vacation? Does anyone else use it then?

If the cops who live out of town don't want to pay for a car, does that mean that they are not needed for emergencies?

How about the ones who do live in town and don't want to pay for them?

This whole thing sounds like a stupid plan to avoid something!

I think what the Chief would like to do is let whomever he wants take a car home when he feels it is necessary!

Or blame someone else if no one can take one home!

Leadership is usually missing in this kind of circumstance.

Do New York and LA cops take cars home (other than big wheels and captains and up, of course?)

Oh, this isn't NY?

Why wouldn't all want to do that? Is there a qualification to be able to take one home? How many police are there including office?
75-85 maybe?

The Police Chief in Dekalb had four at home, I thin it was---approved by the Town Manager or whomever.

Merceded, Cadillac, and others---said they were dope cars---maybe, but still not his!

Just shows where this sort of thing can lead to.
