Oops! Language barrier thwarts Clinton goodwill gesture

“We worked hard to get it right.”

This is what happens when government "works to get it right".

They come up with meaningless gimmicks that "overcharge"

How typical of a Liberal administrations.

Hillary looks like a complete fool.

So she should have known better, can you say hello Rosetta Stone... They should have handed Sergie a box of Tampax for his wife and reminded them to pull their own string and toot their own horn next time, or could she have ben having a Midol moment.. I digress this administration is off to a roaring start. By the time this is over we will all be out in the street.....PEACE

Symbolism works in both ways!

All Clinton was telling the Russian was that he could forget all of the Bush stuff and deal with the new administration from an even keel.

They are about to rebuild their empire with oil revenues (as soon as they can get it back to a $100) and we need to be able to talk to them about that rebuilding.

The button won't be forgotten---wrong word and all.
They were fed up with Bush and his missiles next door and his Cuban treatment and most everything else. Try to remember that without Russia we would not have totally defeated Hitler and Japan would not have surrendered early had the Russians not been knocking on their back door when the big bomb was dropped! We sent the Russians into that area and would have shared Japan with them if necessary.
We used to have smart war managers.

The joint chiefs held a meeting in Versailles, and it was decided to emplore the Commander In Cheif to engage the Russian Bear, while we had the chance, for at this time 70 percent of the world was under allied forces control, they knew that if we did not seize the moment we would forever be engaged in what came to be known as the cold war, General Patton was charged with making the presentation, and was forever cast off from this point foward as being mad and out of his mind for even suggesting this, while the rest of the joint chiefs turned their backs on him. However history has proven otherwise, and vindicated General Patton as to have been being spot on. Now all these years later their grand children are off in forigen lands fighting for people who could care less about us, that we had control over and chose to give back at the end of the second world war, only to have their future generations laugh and spit in our face. Its time to bring em home folks and let the rest of the world fend for itself while we try to save ourselves before it is to late...BLESS

Russian media teases Clinton over 'reset' button

Russian media has been poking fun at US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton after she gave her Russian counterpart a "reset" button with an ironic misspelling.
Clinton's gift to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at their meeting in Geneva on Friday evening was meant to underscore the Obama administration's readiness to "to press the reset button" in ties with Moscow.

If this great country of ours died two months ago, in your opinion, what the heck are you still doing here? Judging by past insinuations, certainly you know where the exits are located.... Right?

More gaffs from Hillary. Ol' barry sure does know how to pick 'em!

Clinton compared the complex European political environment to that of the two-party U.S. system, before adding:

"I have never understood multiparty democracy.

"It is hard enough with two parties to come to any resolution, and I say this very respectfully, because I feel the same way about our own democracy, which has been around a lot longer than European democracy."

The remark provoked much head shaking in the parliament of a bloc that likes to trace back its democratic tradition thousands of years to the days of classical Greece.

And if that wasn’t enough, there is more to come:

One working lunch later with EU leaders, Clinton raised more eyebrows when she referred to EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana, who stood beside her, as "High Representative Solano."

She also dubbed European Commission External Relations Commissioner Benita Ferrero-Waldner as "Benito."

Unless Hillary has taken up fishing or butchering I don't believe she used a gaff. A gaff is a hook, a gaffe is a social error or blunder? Were you fishing, butchering or just "gaffeing"?

How retarded is that? Giving the Ruskie's a "button to press" is akin to pressing the doomsday button to send nukes up in the air - that was my first thought, anyways...

Poor taste all the way around IMHO. Stop the gimmicks and get on with int'l diplomacy, PLEASE, Hillary. We have so much work to do in repairing our int'l relations after 8 yrs. of Bush.

the right "man" for the job. It looked like an SNL skit gone wrong. I'll bet Lavrov wanted to push some kind of button when Hillary's screeching laugh belted out.

Nice job Hillary. Same start as President Barry Urkel.....

10-4 on the Poor Taste call; And regardless, no excuse whatsoever in failing to be able to use the proper Russian word for "Reset"--someone surely dropped the ball.
