It seemed like a logical request, but it was one that led to charges of drug possession for Fayetteville man Feb. 27 in addition to an arrest for traffic offenses.

Byron Romero Espino, 28, was charged with possession of cocaine, expired tag and driving without a license, according to Fayetteville Police spokesperson Steve Crawshaw.

Romero Espino was initially stopped for an expired tag, Crawshaw said, and was arrested for driving without a valid license. Before his transport to Fayette County Jail, Romero Espino asked to have a black bag containing his medication brought along with him, Crawshaw said.

Officers at the jail while inventorying the bag discovered that one of the medication bottles contained a crack pipe and a small amount of crack cocaine, Crawshaw said. The discovery led to the charge of possession of cocaine, he said.

Seems to me these drug dealers must be reeling from the effect of the recession, cant afford no tag, and didnt bother to get a license, but can go for the big burn... MAKES YA WONDER...PEACE

I must have missed that part of the story. All I read about was a crack pipe and a "small" amount of crack cocaine and a "DA"
