No need to fear Obama’s programsTue, 03/03/2009 - 4:13pm

There is, and has been for a long time, a very shrill debate between conservatives and liberals regarding the direction in which our country should move. I think we can all agree that we are in trying times that call for some sort of action on our part to prevent further degradation of the American way of life. America is going to have to change its ways or it will suffer the same fate as that of previous world powers. We are currently facing a myriad of problems that if not dealt with could result in meltdown and chaos. I think the American people agree with this premise and just elected a new president who promised change. Now those who do not see, or refuse to see, the need for change are radicalizing our new president without giving him half a chance to solve a few of the more pressing problems facing our nation. This man is not a radical. Liberals do not advocate socialism. I do not think there is another person better qualified to lead us into the future than this new president. I call on all Americans to now look forward fearlessly. Nothing radical is going to happen. We do not have to be afraid of what lies ahead. We will be OK. Relax! Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter and other prophets of doom prey on our unreasonable fears and immobilize our nation. I think it is appropriate that we remember that they are nothing more than entertainers. They don’t have any crystal ball that lets them look into the future and they openly admit that they are only preaching what sells. This country has spent the better part of the last two decades being led by conservatives that appear to be trying to move the country forward while looking in the rearview mirror. It just can’t be done. It is now time to give the other side a chance. Surely the new bunch can’t be any worse than the last. Really, it’s time for changing our ways before we destroy this great country that we love so much. Why don’t we set aside ideology and just try something that works? There’s nothing to be afraid of.
