Mother nature left a wonderful gift! Fayettville was serenely splendid! Thanks for sharing these photos. Grandkids made a great snowman - (and no - those are not my grandkids in any of the pictures). I'm still enjoying the scenery outside my window.

I have replaced most of the bulbs in my house with fluorescent bulbs and unplug things whenever I can. Whether it saves the planet or not - my hope is that it will at least help out on the power bill. However, my husband has threatened to kill me if I unplug the microwave one more time. Jeez! It takes so little for some people.

In my humble opinion..just terrible.

Just remember the 2mg mercury content per bulb that ends up in landfills, poisoning ground water! Damned if ya do, damned if ya don't! At least incandescents aren't poisonous.

Don't know if it's true or not, but when a lightening strike in my neighborhood the other week caused two of my couple of month old fluorescent bulbs to expire I googled "recycling of fluorescents" and found that Home Depot is supposedly taking the bulbs for recycling. Haven't gone to check it out yet or if there are some conditions or costs attached to the effort. Also e-mailed GE because the lightening strike was at a neighbors house at least 80 to 100 yards from mine. Thought it odd that I would have had that result. Heard back from GE that they are considering having me return the bulbs for testing and may replace them.

Is this day a sign of global warming?

You who use one day of light snow or of cold temperature to judge whether we have global warming or not---instead of watching the ice on the poles slide into the ocean in quantities greater than in centuries are fooling yourself!

What is it with you---don't want any tax money spent on stopping our great polluters? God doesn't pay much attention to us screwing up the place. We have to live in it--or our great grandchildren will.

Every single winter we get some Kooky Konservative Komedian who dutifully trots out winter snow as "proof" that global warming doesn't exist.

to show that it was warmer than this in our recent (1000 year) past. Climate changes. Lots of variation. Don't trot out 30 years worth of "data" and say the world is coming to an end. Especially where the recording stations are found in asphalt parking lots and urban heat sinks. With data-garbage in = garbage out

used to be under well.. ICE... Greenland used to be..wait for it.. "GREEN".. Sharks teeth have been found in the middle of the desert.. which used to be "THE BOTTOM OF THE OCEAN"..
But hey we know better.. the Earth has been here for Millions of years.. we have been here a mere speck of that time.. but we know.. the Science is settled.
The Climate has never changed or changed this rapidly or warmed or cooled or anything else until Americans came along and screwed up the entire planet.. Stupid humans...

the debate is whether or not global warming is man made. The fact is: no one really KNOWS, it is all theory and conjecture being used as a ruse to squeeze more money out of the populace, you and I.

Conservatives unite, pause, and smell the roses - just for a minute. You're missing life!!! It's great to entertain, discuss, sometimes argue - but come on - can't we just agree that it's beautiful outside today?

Swirl chocolate syrup into a brandy snifter, add Bailey's, cream, and a little Jameson - EXCELLENT !!

Feeny's is cheaper than Bailey's too - by about $20 a bottle. I use Feeny's in the restaurant to cut costs, but also keep Bailey's on hand for those that specifically request it. Same with Gran Gala, it's cheaper than Gran Marnier so it's more cost effective when making a Texas margarita, but again, I keep Gran Marnier on hand for those that call for it.

BTW, the black dog in the photo above looks just like Cole, my black lab. However, my lab is a pansy and did not like the snow at all. I finally had to let him go out in the garage to do his business because he refused to go outside - he was pretty freaked out by the whole experience. I also have the only lab in the world that's afraid of water.

Cole sounds like my old dog.
She hated getting wet (I think she was part cat).
She also hated the snow, enough that she refused to go out the entire day.

I caught Cole on the couch today. The remote had been left on the seat cushion and Cole's paw was over the remote with his head on the pillow. It was priceless. He really is my husband's best friend.

I wanted to go to the store earlier today, but didn't because I figured Ingalls would be packed. I had a craving for some Tomato Florentine soup and only needed to pick up some shell pasta and zucchini. I had to settle for Ravioli for lunch. Fried catfish for dinner and had to do without tartar. I'll make a grocery trip when the sun comes out! Smiling

This restaurant is at my house. Smiling I'm a pretty good cook, if I just must brag. And I love to cook for others, maybe I should have you over for dinner some time. Smiling

Tonights menu: Coffee can casserole - my husbands old boyscout delicacy. It's his turn to cook tonight.

I love to eat! And don't fret dawn, like my grandaddy used to say, "It ain't braggin' if it's true!"
