Commuting Students Need to Pay

Since we are currently in a shortfall, why is it that the payment for students of teachers who live outside of Fayette County not addressed?

This is a major issue; some teachers have over three children attending our schools from other counties. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED!!!!

Teachers are not the only ones with this benefit. There is a janitor at a local elementary school who has put over 5 grandkids through the Fayette school system. I knew a cafeteria worker who lived in Fairburn, but had her daughters in the Fayette school where she worked. If you work for the FCBOE, even cutting the grass at the schools, I believe you have this privelege.

Do you really not know why these employees have this benefit? Have you thought of what it would mean to have these students in their home school environment? While these people are here serving the students of your county, their own children should suffer by having to come home to an empty house, sometimes put in dangerous situations. My children come with me every day to your county while I commute the sometimes 45 minutes and they stay at my school with me every day for over 3 hours waiting for me to finish working with YOUR children! We do this to serve you. I choose this county for my family and I choose to bring my children with me to keep them safe and away from an empty home. I cannot fathom the thought of having my children home alone waiting for a school bus, coming home to an empty house, and now with the pay cut I cannot even think about paying an after school sitter! So your wonderful county offers this to their employees in an attempt to get them to come here. I ask you what they will have to offer us next year? Especially those who make less than 20K a year! Ask us to pay a tuition on top of taking a pay cut and you will have a hard time just getting a position filled. This is a wonderful educational system, but I honestly choose to bring my children here because I have no other way to survive having a job here. I am sure that there are many other families are in the same situation.
