Wrestlers from Fayette County Schools shine at State

This past weekend the GHSA State Wrestling Championship tournament was held at the Gwinett Arena. Every high school in Fayette County had at least one wrestler who placed in the Top 6 of their weight class. All totaled Fayette County High Schools qualified 27 wrestlers for the State Tournament, with 13 of them placing.

Sandy Creek and Whitewater led the way with Four Placers each, Fayette County had Three, while McIntosh and Starrs Mill each had One. Those placers were:

Sandy Creek:

145lbs Levon Alls 6th
160lbs Julian Holmes 2nd
171lbs Derek Wojcik Champion
285lbs Jesse Deyo 6th

Whitewater:

119lbs Michael Escarra 6th
152lbs Kenny Kellerman 2nd
160lbs Chase Penland Champion (2 time)
171lbs Jacob Williamson 2nd

Fayette County:

112lbs Ali Kahn 2nd
119lbs Joel Carnow 4th
215lbs Patrick Blankenbeker Champion

McIntosh:

285lbs Sean Carney 4th

Starrs Mill:

160lbs Travis Hearn 5th
