PTC Ampitheater

Please bring Lauren and Jeremy back!! Good luck Nancy, this lineup looks as though the OLD PTC regime hand picked it. I'm taking my dollars to Wild Bills in Duluth.

if you are not a part of the solution, you are part of the problem. Enjoy Wild Bills...I'll enjoy a nice golf cart ride myself.

...not.

I'm glad to see you'll drive all the way to Duluth to enjoy your Marshall Tucker Band and Styx for the 75th time. Why not just save some money and get drunk in front of an iPod?

The variety in this year's events at the Fred are more than I think the "Tourism Association" put on in two years of running the venue into the ground. Good for Nancy. If it's not your cup of tea, drink something else. Heck, get some friends together and rent the place out yourself for a couple of thousand bucks...see if you can get Stryper to come down here....

Styx sold out both years. At least with an ipod I can hear the real thing not a tribute band. Whats the MAN bringing in next clogging?
I would rent it out -- heck I would offer to buy it, but they won't let go of control of the artist.

My great grandmother use to dance to the Glen Miller Orchester in the 40's. She said she can't manage all the steps at the Fred but would love to have them at Christian City.
Why Stryper? Its not all about christian music. I hear Twisted sister are touring. Seriously when a bar can get better acts than a city venue you have to question what's going on.
The city has a great venue. Use it to make money.

They do!

They fill it up to 75% which more than pays for the "talent."
The overage pays for the Tennis Center, the Airport, and their help.

What we want to see isn't very important!

The concert line up is chosen in packages. In this case, purchasing packages is done at various levels. The amount of money that The Fred generates only enables them to purchase a package at a certain level. They'll have to increase the ticket price to get current top artists. Each performer is not hand picked. They chose a package of various artists at their price point to appeal to the masses.

Yeah, you have to pay top dollar for current top name bands. But there are lots of bands in atlanta that put on good shows that are cheap. I saw a Bon Jovi cover band a few years ago and they are awesome and probably cheap. The problenm is that too many people complain no matter what. UFC sold out, but it was too violent for little Timmy. So get a BABY SITTER!!!

I heard the fights Cory put on at the ampitheater were more profitable than most of the concerts. If this is true then why cant they bring them back? They were great and it was local.

I told you why. They were to violent for PTC. (Bullshit!) You don't always have to take your kids. And if you don't like the show don't go

I see the old regime at work. Sounds like they really dont want to make money. Control is first and foremost with this group.
Say Anything, has local band members I'm sure they would come home and do a concert. The youth of this city would love to have a concert and it would draw patrons from all over ATL.

The ampitheater has tons of potential if the micro-managers/moral right would get the hell outta the way. The ampitheater is for all ages not just 50+

If they would use it to make money instead of peronal control they would'nt have to layoff any city emloyees. My understanding is the mayor and his group regulate the ticket and table prices. RAISE THE PRICES AND GET BETTER ACTS. The people will come! They leave thousands of dollars on the table trying to appease the cheap people in the city. Forget them draw from outside the city, they will stay the night in the hotels and eat at the restaurants. Wow revenue for the city what a novel concept.

Thats not True. I agree with laying off the employees. (As long as it really saves money) PTC is not a jobs program.

we need a young city council person. Some one who can stand up for this kind of thing and for other things like alcohol permits.
