Peachtree City Police are warning the public about a suspicious person who is falsely claiming to raise funds for Promise Place. Police identified the man as Benjamin Middlebrooks, describing him as a black male about 155 pounds, 5'10" tall with brown eyes and black hair, police said. He is approximately 48 years old. Middlebrooks entered a local State Farm office Thursday trying to obtain funds on behalf of Promise Place, police said. He was with an unidentified black female whom he said was his wife, also indicating that he had a ministry, police said. Middlebrooks is not affiliated with Promise Place, police said. Promise Place is a local non-profit group that provides support and shelter to victims of domestic abuse. Police are asking local businessmen to notify police at 770-461-4357, the department's non-emergency number, so an officer can respond to the scene. login to post comments |
