Suspect caught Wednesday at PTC home A citizen tip on a surveillance photo helped Peachtree City police identify and locate a local man now accused of attempting to rob the Kedron Kroger grocery store early Monday morning. David Franklin Alewine, 43, was arrested late Wednesday afternoon as police officers converged on a house at 301 Pinemount Drive in Peachtree City at 5:40 p.m. to serve an arrest and search warrant, police said. The home is off Golfview Drive near Flat Creek Country Club. Alewine was charged with criminal attempt to commit armed robbery and his bond was set at $55,200, police said. Clark said the department “received a great deal of support from the community regarding this case.” During the robbery, a lone suspect entered the store and with his hand in his coat pocket demanded money from a cashier, police said. He claimed to have a .357 caliber pistol in his coat pocket, police said. But ultimately the man was rebuffed and left the store empty-handed, police said. The suspect left the store through the front doors and walked behind the shopping center to the alley behind the Blockbuster store, police said. Police believe the man drove away on Georgian Park in a dark-colored pickup truck, possibly a Chevrolet with a camper shell. The Citizen posted a police photo of the robber on its website Wednesday. Police described the robber “as a white male approximately 45 years of age, 5-feet-10-inches to 6-feet, average build, dark hair, mustache, with a significant recent scratch on his left cheek, wearing a flannel jacket, blue jeans and a black ball cap with white writing.” login to post comments |
