PTC cops have got their Kedron Kroger robber, according to Chief H.C. “Skip” Clark II.

“On Feb. 18, 2009, at approximately 5:40 p.m., Peachtree City police officers and the department’s Special Response Team (SRT) converged on 301 Pinemount Drive in Peachtree City to serve an arrest and search warrant at that location. During the incident, David Franklin Alewine, 43, was identified and arrested.” That's off Golfview Drive, near Flat Creek Country Club.

Alewine is being held at the Fayette County Jail for criminal attempt armed robbery, and his bond has been set at $55,200, police said Thursday afternoon.

After the police department released a photograph of the man who robbed the Kedron Village Kroger on Monday morning, Feb. 16, citizen tips led the officers to Alewine, police said.

According to a statement released by Chief Clark, “The police department received a great deal of support from the community regarding this case.”

Police had been looking for a lone robber who hit the Kedron Village Kroger supermarket in the middle of the night Monday.

“The suspect entered the Kedron Village Kroger and demanded money from a cashier,” police said. “After approaching the cashier with his hand in his coat pocket, he claimed to have a concealed .357 caliber pistol. The suspect exited the store through the front doors and walked behind the north end of the shopping center, where he went to the alleyway behind the Blockbuster store.”

Police believe the man drove away on Georgian Park in a dark-colored pickup truck, possibly a Chevrolet with a camper shell. The incident is being handled as an armed robbery and happened Monday at 1:40 a.m., police said.

The Citizen posted a police photo of the robber on this website Wednesday. Police described the robber “as a white male approximately 45 years of age, 5-feet-10-inches to 6-feet, average build, dark hair, mustache, with a significant recent scratch on his left cheek, wearing a flannel jacket, blue jeans and a black ball cap with white writing.”

Good job to the police department for bringing a quick end to this investigation, and thanks to whichever citizens helped them. Dirt bags like this need to be locked up.

Thanks to the efforts of the PTC Police department for catching this guy so quickly. I don't care what anyone says, routine or not, I'm glad they got him. He apparently lives across Flat Creek from me and I'm happy to know he's not wandering around.

who constantly brag on the police department for catching crooks when every time it is due to citizens telling them who he is and where he is? Barney Fife could handle that!

Let us write a about things they do more on their own.

These PEOPLE are normal people that are thankful for the good services that our police, firemen, etc. give to them. I think we all could use abit more thankfulness for what we have here.

What or who is an "etc.," that service is given by?
Maybe I'm missing something?
Are they paid by taxes?

Gee, we could write about why you are nuttier than peanut butter.

Or we could continue to thank the cops for a job well done.

Bloggers what do you think?

The name isn't barroom, it's baroom, what the Hell is a baroom? On the positive side, notice how he picked something without any $"s in it, one step forward, one step back.

I'm not sure about that!

Some people are always trying to make everyone else think the same crap as they do! All organized and one way only. No confusing of the infinitely ignorant!

Baroom has nothing to do with Bar Room!

Why are all of you nitpickers so worried about such?
What have I harped on about bar rooms here?

peanut butter from that certain plant. He doesn't like to hear good things about the police, fire department, students, kayakers, fishermen, cyclists, and on and on ad nauseum. Other than writing blogs and answering himself under a different name, what does he like?

I really despise those talking who constantly find everything rosy when it isn't. I agree with the fellow.
That is how those bankers and finance idiots and the asleep politicians in Washington, and here, put us into a possible depression!
We keep saying everything is going to be alright and it is not my problem!
I like to "hear good things," when they are good! However bragging over service personnel for mundane accomplishments doesn't help improve their performance!
I think you find good in the wrong people.

How about you two get off lazy butts, step away from your computers, and actually do something positive for this community. I know, since it's such a mundane accomplishment and all, why don't you guys be the first two to enter a known armed robbers home and try to arrest him. Equipped only with the knowledge that he has guns and has threatened to use them on poor innocent people. I bet he wouldn't think twice to start shooting at any form of law enforcement he found on his property. Until that day comes that you have the guts to do anything close to what our police officers do on any given day, I suggest you stay at home, on your computer, and continue blogging about crap that you have no clue about. As for myself and the many other proud citizens of Peachtree City on this website, we will continue to show gratitude for the great services our people of public safety provide for us.
- With that said I would also like to show gratitude to the citizen or citizens that helped provide our police with the information that led to the arrest of this pitiful excuse for a human being.

He doesn't like to hear good things about anything. I know I'm negative and mean to politicians and criminals, but this guy is negative about everything.
