It has been in the works for a long time, but the announcement finally came earlier this week that Harrisburg, Pennsylvania computer products and consumer electronic company D&H Distributing will open a 476,000 square-foot high-tech distribution center in Newnan in early May and will create approximately 100 jobs.

The new distribution center in Coweta Industrial Park will open its doors with approximately 100 employees, creating significant job opportunities for local residents, according to a company press release. The facility incorporates cutting-edge automation, optimized operations, environmentally conservative equipment, recycling facilities and more. At a current 476,000 square-feet, the location can be expanded up to 680,000 square-feet in the future to accommodate growth, according to the press release.

Coweta County Development Authority landed D&H from their ongoing efforts in “Project Surge.” Commenting in January, Development Authority President Bill Harrison said the then-unnamed high-tech, high-end electronics distribution company would house the $40 million industrial park facility.

“Atlanta is strategic for us in being able to optimize our business, in addition to being a potential growth area, and an attractive business community in general,” said Michael Schwab, co-president at D&H Distributing. “We look forward to being a part of greater Coweta County.”

The new distribution center will service D&H territories including the Southeast and areas of the Midwest, allowing D&H customers in these regions to receive complete shipments faster than they have before, with lower shipping costs, the company said.

A leading national technology distributor, D&H provides resources to solution providers and consultants, delivering a broad selection of SMB categories, products and applications, according to the press release. The company’s offerings span server and infrastructure, SOHO and mobile applications, consumer electronics and gaming. D&H’s multi-market expertise, account-dedicated sales teams, service and flexible financing options are unmatched in the industry, according to information supplied by the company.

The Coweta site will be the company’s largest distribution center yet in the Atlanta region. In addition to its Harrisburg headquarters and warehouse facilities, D&H has warehouses in Chicago, Fresno and Mississauga, Ontario.

D&H Distributing is a family-owned, ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) company with more than 90 years of history whose top five executives have a collective total of 150 years of distribution experience. The company is also involved in community causes and charities such as Habitat for Humanity and its “D&H Cares” foundation.
