Thank you, crossing guard

Just wanting to thank the crossing guard near McIntosh High School, who was unfortunately injured on Friday. Four-way stop signs plus golfcarts headed to school are very dangerous, especially when the bell is about to ring. Everyone---calm down at this site, and take the time to thank the crossing guard!

The stark difference in accuracy between The Citizen real reports and the bloggers always amazes me.

I saw the poor crossing guard get injured. I was first in line in my car coming from McIntosh. He didn't get run over, nor did he suffer a self-inflicted bullet wound as blogged here (as far as I could tell). A student in a golf cart had stalled in the road starting the incline as if her battery was giving out. The crossing guard stopped all traffic and went to give her cart a push to get it going. Her cart lurched forward when he started the push, and he fell to the road. Unfortunately he wasn't able to shield his head and he hit the road. Immediately a woman jumped out of her car to aid him as he started to sit up, obviously stunned. I sure hope he's doing well. If anyone knows where to send cards, etc., please let us know.

When a crossing guard gets run over, in the words of the late great RODNEY DANGERFIELD "NO RESPECT." Anyone heard any more about the subsequent gun play at MCCURRY PARK yesterday, possibly????hmm...PEACE

I'd like to know....because we have lax practice there every day until dark. Scary.

The gentleman was terminally ill, and did not wish to live that way. No crime, just a sad day.

How something of this caliber can happen in our community, and should of been headline news but was rather swept under the rug. May he find peace and rest his soul.....GOD BLESS

I heard from a friend of a friend that it was a self-inflicted gunshot, no foul play involved. The friend of the friend knows someone who saw him sitting there when she was walking the path, then when she saw him again he had shot himself.

So very sad. Sad
