In the wake of numerous recent entering auto cases, the Peachtree City Police Department is asking the public to report suspicious activity both at home and elsewhere in the city, officials said. Police want to be notified when people are seen loitering in neighborhoods, placing items on windshields or looking into vehicles. The recent vehicle thefts have occurred in neighborhoods and also at shopping centers, gyms, daycare centers and other local businesses, police said. Suspicious activity can be reported by calling the police department at 770-487-8866 or the non-emergency 911 number: 770-461-4357. The recent vehicle thefts involve items taken from unattended vehicles such as laptop computers, GPS systems, cellphones, purses, credit cards, cash and merchandise in shopping bags, police said. Such incidents have been reported in the following neighborhoods and areas: Morallion Hills, Southern Shores, Planterra Ridge, Kedron Hills, Foreston Place, Quail Run and Raintree East subdivisions along with Commerce Drive. Police are urging residents to make sure they hide valuables instead of leaving them out in plain view in vehicles. Such items can be placed in trunks or at least out of view, police said. Residents are also being asked to secure vehicles and homes, keep garage doors closed and activate vehicle, home and business security alarms when away. Police are also reminding residents to use the lock feature on GPS units to prohibit a thief from accessing a home address, personal information and any other data stored on the device. Police think such action could prevent a future burglary at those homes. login to post comments |
