They are a religious sect that believes in taking no medical intervention for any sickness or injury. The stand back and do nothing approach. Yes, just sit back and watch the nation's economy spiral downward, the bankruptcies lead to foreclosures, the foreclosures lead to homelessness, the homelessness lead to desperation, the desperation crime, the crime injuries. Oh! and there are branches in this tree of despair! The bankruptcies and homelessness also lead to hunger and sickness and death. And, of course, sickness sprouts off a whole new branch of medical expense borne by the state aka government. Man! Those republicans are on to something! Scrap the whole "buy American" stupid mantra and just part out our formerly big three to their Japanese and Korean counterparts. Let's just sell off America like we've done Hawaii. That's the answer! Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant! And then, when whatever we have left is at its rock-bottom value, the five people left in America with any form of purchasing power can buy it up.

Vote Republican, because Donald Trump, Ted Turner, and Exxon don't own EVERYTHING.........YET.

Exactly how are these government programs supposed to stimulate the economy?

$350 million to develop and maintain a "broadband inventory map" at the Department of Commerce
$1.375 billion for "Rural Water and Waste Disposal"
$1 billion for the 2010 Census
$150 million for the Office of the Federal Detention Trustee
$50 million in aid to combat Internet Crimes Against Children
$1.4 billion for water projects for Indian tribes
$10 million to inspect canals in urban areas
$2.1 billion on energy efficiency in government buildings
$600 million to buy high fuel economy vehicles for the federal government
$240 million for "Alteration of Bridges"
$55 million for Historic Preservation in Park System
$150 million for facilities at the Smithsonian
$100 million in Aging nutrition services
$400 million for screening and prevention of STD's, including HIV
$1.5 billion for "Homelessness Prevention Fund"

Face it - barry is nothing but a fraud. He has no intention of doing what is right for America and for Americans. The sole purpose of this bill is to enable democrats to retain power.

barry is nothing but a hand puppet for Pelosi and Reid.

Well the last money to the banks hasn't stimulated anything yet, maybe if we gave all this trillion to them also, that they might lend it to us?

This crap that the Majority Leader is spouting about wanting the new stimulus to go to homeowners is crap!! He figures that if they can get rid of all the money in it that is going to places other than the banks, the banks will get it.
If he fails to do that, then he will fight the bill coming up for housing only (the opposite of what he is doing now) and try to filibuster it.

Just what are they planning for housing anyway? We don't need any more new housing or commercial building for a year or two!
Will you have to have a down payment and a good job to get one of the new loans? Or, will it all go to upper class wage earners as they wish?

"$350 million to develop and maintain a "broadband inventory map" at the Department of Commerce."

President Obama is trying to appoint Republican Senator Judd Gregg of New Hampshire as The Secretary of Commerce, but your new "leadership" in Michael Steele is fighting for Gregg not to take a cabinet seat. Are you guys serious? So I guess you will never know how the Department of Commerce can become more efficient via broadband, since your guys are choosing to stay on the outside looking in through a little bitty window.

I read about it in FOX News:

"Democratic leaders in the House have dropped federal funding for new contraceptive services and ongoing programs to stop sexually transmitted diseases from the $825 billion economic stimulus bill due to hit the floor Tuesday. The decision came after President Obama called Democratic leaders to tell them that the $200 million set-aside does not comport with the objectives of the job creation package."

I don't know what world these Repub's live in but it is not the real world. I guess they are like the CEO'S of this world, they just don't get it and probably never will. Poor Fred, he is just going to be miserable for the next 4 years. I wonder if he wouldn't be much happier in Alaska. I'm sure whats her name, would just love to have another Alaskan citizen that thinks like she does.

Sporting my Steeler's t-shirt loudly and proudly!

Make that 8 + years of misery for "fred" and his oppositionist brothers and sisters. Why do I say this?

Get this! Mitch McConnell of Kansas, the minority leader in the Senate, feels Claire McCaskill of Missouri is off base for suggesting businesses we bail out should not be allowed to give bonuses or unrestrained salaries to their failed execs. He said it sends the wrong message and gives the government too much control over the affairs of these businesses.

So, from the leader of the GOP, (Rush not withstanding), businesses that would not exist if not for the government loans they grovelled for should be able to pay bonuses and whatever salaries they wish with those taxpayer funds....

Mitch, Mitch, Mitch! Enjoy the wilderness.

Fine. Limit the pay and watch the executives leave and go work for companies that don't have a salary cap.

The company that received the bailout funds will falter and all of our tax dollars that were used to bail out the company will go down the tubes.

Not very bright of ol' Claire.

"Fine. Limit the pay and watch the executives leave and go work for companies that don't have a salary cap."

Who would have thought that there were so many executive jobs with unlimited compensation available for immediate occupancy. And those jobs are being reserved for execs currently running failed or failing companies. This probably sounds realistic to you.

There are only a very, very few "producers" out of the 300 million people in the country and if we make them angry they're going to slip off into their mountain retreat and leave the rest of us helpless. They think Atlas Shrugged is an historical novel instead of fiction.
