Employee, video from Walmart lead to resolution

Peachtree City police arrested three people last week after one of them tried to use a fraudulent check at Walmart, officials said.

A store employee flagged down an officer who was conducting a security check around 10 p.m. on Jan. 22 to report that three people had tried to pass a fraudulent check, police said.

That officer then radioed others and a traffic stop was conducted on the suspect’s vehicle, police said.

Video footage obtained from Walmart helped determine all three suspects were involved, as some had removed or concealed a layer of clothing by the time the traffic stop was made, police said.

One of the arrested suspects was identified as Lolita Hooten, 40, of Chicago Avenue, Atlanta. She was charged with forgery in the first degree (party to the crime), driving without a license, giving a false name and date of birth and three outstanding warrants for larceny, violation of probation and identity fraud from College Park, Gwinnett County and Ocala, Fla., police said.

Also charged were David Lee Presley, 39, of Chicago Avenue, Atlanta for giving a false name and date of birth to a police officer and an outstanding warrant for violation of probation from Spalding County, police said.

A 16-year-old juvenile, also of Atlanta, was also arrested because she had lied to an officer about being inside the Walmart during the incident, police said. She was charged with forgery in the first degree (party to a crime) and obstruction of a police officer.
