A man was robbed at gunpoint outside the Food Depot at Banks Station Jan. 23 after cashing his paycheck, Fayetteville police said. The two robbers fled in what was thought to be a Honda car, police said.

The victim went into the grocery store at approximately 5:35 p.m. to cash his paycheck, said Fayetteville Police spokesperson Steve Crawshaw. The man exited the store and was a short distance from the door when two black males approached and began walking beside him him, Crawshaw said.

One of the men produced a handgun and demanded his money, said Crawshaw. The victim handed over the money without incident, Crawshaw said.

The men may have left the area in a beat-up Honda Civic or Honda Accord occupied by two other males, Crawshaw said.

Crawshaw said the victim ran into the store and called police.

One of the men was described as 5-feet-5-inches in height and weighing 130 pounds, wearing a white t-shirt, a black and gold jacket and blue jean shorts. The other man was thought to be 6-feet with unknown clothing, Crawshaw said.

Pretty bad when a person has to pray for his life to be kept safe while he/she goes grocery shopping in the United States of America..."home of the free and the brave"...Yep...pretty bad when I have to be BRAVE enough to go to the grocery store! Heaven help us all!

Remember the only good criminal is a dead one. As long as criminals keep getting away with crime here, they will keep coming back. Apparently committing a crime in Fayette County is easier than getting a job.

"One of the men was described as 5-feet-5-inches in height and Weighing 130 pounds" - Could it be that Victor "Walking Small" Hill has surfaced with a new profession?

At the risk of repeating myself - police strategies have got to change to meet the new realities of crime. While change has a chance of happening at the Fayetteville and PTC PDs, I think we're in trouble at the county level. Sheriff Hannah seems intent on not only compounding some of the mistakes of his predecessor but making a few serious ones on his own with his "turn of the (last) century" management.

Newsflash for Hannah: The streets of Fayette County are not safe any more. The general populace is arming itself for good reason. Get over yourself and get to work.

Perhaps you can stop empire building long enough to listen to the people you are sworn to protect.
